I use my DIC. Maybe you don't have one? ;)

LOL!
Actually, I do have a DIC and will have give it a little more attention this summer. It is old and sometimes hard to see. The display is dim and I'll have to re-solder.

I have used the Fuel button on the steering wheel to show oil life remaining on the DIC. I did not know it could reset from there.

I previously used the gas pedal/ignition method to reset oil life.

I just figured this was an opportunity to dust off the Tech 2 and go that route. Gives me an excuse to try out different functions.

I see cluster repairs are on sale now... Basically, you can get $30 LED upgrade included for the same price as the regular price with standard bulbs. Not a bad deal at all!!!
I could solder the PRNDL myself, but not sure I want to bother with swapping out LEDs. For $179 on a cluster rebuild, new LEDs seems like a fair price.

I know my own work is not coming with Lifetime Guarantee if something fails later. It would be my time to figure things out. $179 looks pretty good right now.

Might price the addition of a tranny temp gauge, if they offer that option.

For you or for me?

If for you... No charge for cluster already having one. $99 to add one that didn't exist.

If for me... My Z71 has a transmission temp, so that would be included.

Not for me, I had mine added a few years ago and have LED backlighting. Love it!

I could live with the PRNDL and do that myself, but LED swap just seems a bit more than I would want to tackle. I currently have a bulb or two out, but they are not in critical locations. I have been ignoring for a while.

Bulbs are easy; LEDs must follow the correct polarity. They're all solder-in.

I did a bulb refresh and new stepper motors for a neighbor a few years ago. I think the worst part was getting the cluster apart, but that wasn't all that bad. I've been soldering since I was 12 or so, when Dad and I would do Heathkits.

Hi all, Nic here from southern IN, swapped the cat eye and did 6" of lift with 22x10 Centerlines with 35x12.5s, headlights, tail lights on my 05 Tahoe LT this last weekend. Certified mechanic. Hope to be as helpful as I can around here! Cheers!
