I wanted to install them behind the grille but there wasn't anyplace to fit anything this large.
I even looked under the back of the bumper, and the only thing I could find that was solid (and had room to fit them) would have been the frame rails.
I just couldn't find any good locations for these monsters.
Saw a write up where a guy mounted them vertically behind the front bumper

I just installed a set of 9011 HIR bulbs in my high beams, but I didn't bother to take any pictures.
In person, you would notice a difference in brightness, but the camera wouldn't see it.
These TYC Denali projectors make it a "drop-in" upgrade. Didn't have to trim the tabs on the bulb at all.
It's not an amazing difference in light, but you will still notice it is brighter.
(The bulbs I got were the HIRs at look like standard cylindrical bulbs, not older style rounded version)

I'm having a hard time imagining where I could fit these behind the bumper like that. :hmmm2:
Maybe some smaller horns...
I mounted mine to the lower support for the trans cooler on my 2500HD. You're right there's not a ton of room but they fit pretty well and don't get in the way of doing pretty much anything.

Here is the view from the driver seat without the fogs to compare to the last photo above.

And just the Switchbacks:

All the lights (low beams, 5000k HID):

High beams (9011 HIR):

So we received our headlight relay upgrade kit (runs the headlights directly from the battery), and I installed them tonight.

Guess the side that is running on the relay kit (answer after the photo):

20170304_205050.jpg

Any guesses yet?

No cheating!

Yes, the left side!

I didn't take any shots of the HIDs because they are the same brightness, no matter what the supply.
I'm not sure if I was imagining it, but I think the HIDs get up to full brightness faster now.

The kit that my dad got for our trucks uses 14 gauge wire. I'm not sure, but I think GM used 18 or 20 gauge wire for the headlights.

I went for a drive and turned on all the power hungry items I could and the high beams never flickered for dimmed once.

So I just upgraded my low beams in my TYC Denali (halogen) projectors.
I put 9011 HIR bulbs in them.

Before ("5000k" HID PnP kit):

After (3000k HIR Halogen):

I had some 9005 halogen bulbs laying around, so I did some tests to see what looked best and brightest:

First off, the HID kit is always on the right.

1. 9011 HIR (65w):

2. 9005 Sylvania Silverstar (60w):

3. 9005 "standard" halogen (they came with the projectors, 65w):

Here are the 9011 HIR bulbs on the right, and the 9005 Silverstars on the left in the high beams:

Went for a quick drive to see what they looked like, and I found the side of a building to use to show the cutoff on the left Note the glare from the switchbacks above the cutoff:

I drove two hours away to pick up four rims for the truck today.
Here is what it looked like half way there:

I went there to get these rims that were originally from a 2000 Sierra:

They are still in pretty good shape for 17 year old rims.
The center caps were in bad shape, but that is ok, as I have this set that came with my truck.

I can clean them up and see if I can get rid of that dent.

Maybe later I can get a set that are in better shape.

Much better!

I was replacing this set of rims:

Now I just need to sell the old rims to make back some of the money I spent on the "new" ones.

I installed a spare load resistor on my left brake light so my cruse control works with LED tail lights, I installed the non-switchback LED turn signals (just as bright as the switchbacks, but don't end up with white glare all over, and just looks better to me), and installed the second 9011 HIR1 bulbs so I have 9011 HIR1's in both the high beams and projectors:

The turn signals and side-markers are exactly the same shade of amber now.

I installed the new grill today.
It started out looking like this:

Now it looks like this:

Here is the box it came in:

I though it looked kinda interesting without the grille installed:

The new grille doesn't come with any hardware, so you have to pull them off of the old grille.

Wow huge difference, nice facelift. Looks good, I was gonna say you forgot to paint the supports black and do some touch up but it's not needed with this grille.
Now change your avatar to show off that front end bling.

I still want to get rid of the rust on the bumper, and I plan painting some behind the grille when it gets warmer.

Now I just need a foggy night to update it!
