Started getting error code P0894 and when I checked the fluid is was way over serviced as in about 2-3 inches above the full hot mark that and it was a pink color on the white rag not red. Also the trans temp was higher than normal. So I figure the radiator is leaking into the transmission at the cooler/heater. When I dropped the pan this is what I found at the bottom and stuck on the filter inlet.

(Picture is of the reddish abrasive looking material, it's set on a manila folder with sawdust all around so ignore the sawdust)

So I guess this is part of some kind of clutch pack?

I thought maybe that debris was coming from the radiator/cooler but I found some pieces that are larger than 3/8" the size of the tubbing lines so that theory is out.

The trans has less than 15k miles, I flushed it and gonna see what it does now.
Its gonna die. They dont heal themselves. That band is for 2nd and 4th. (2-4 band is what its called). What will happen is you will notice it rev up normally in 1st after starting from a dead stop and then when it comes time for 2nd gear it wont be there and engine will rev and then eventually shift to 3rd. 4th gear will never be there either. Something bad happened. Ive never seen a tranny with 15k with that kind of damage to the 2-4 band. Heck ive never seen that on a 2-4 band with 300k on it. That looks like a manufacture defect or the rebuilder used a dished (worn) sunshell which is what the band squeezes ahold of.

Hmmm....how soon do you think it will die? Like 500 miles, 5K, 50K? I figured the coolant in the transmission is the culprit of why it came apart.

The coolant could very well be the cause of the 2-4 band material coming apart. There really is no way to tell how long the tranny has before it dies. I can tell you that the reverse steels will dish like a frisbee from getting too hot and you will then lose reverse. After that happens it wont be much longer before that tranny is done.
