Transmission Slipping P0894

Started getting error code P0894 and when I checked the fluid is was way over serviced as in about 2-3 inches above the full hot mark that and it was a pink color on the white rag not red. Also the trans temp was higher than normal. So I figure the radiator is leaking into the transmission at the cooler/heater. When I dropped the pan this is what I found at the bottom and stuck on the filter inlet.

(Picture is of the reddish abrasive looking material, it's set on a manila folder with sawdust all around so ignore the sawdust)

So I guess this is part of some kind of clutch pack?

Wow. Very strange. Gasket material? Look at the straight and square edges. Clutch packs are round.

No the gasket is in the pic and it's whole, the trans is 3 yo about <15k miles and I installed it.

I was looking at the rebuild kit and I dont see anything like it...hmmm

I thought maybe that debris was coming from the radiator/cooler but I found some pieces that are larger than 3/8" the size of the tubbing lines so that theory is out.

Smoked your band. Probably killed the shell. Have the torque converter closely inspected.

Funny thing is I never noticed it slipping

That doesn't look like a gradual failure to me.

The trans has less than 15k miles, I flushed it and gonna see what it does now.
