Bought a replacement set of rear lines. When the rearend was replaced the mechanic must've broke one and neglected to tell me. He replaced it with a stock rubber brake line. That's just unacceptable. Didn't even tell me he broke mine. View attachment 448765
Another fine mechanic you hired? You seem to have he worst luck with them. Hope you can get it sorted out @Tonyrodz !

Wait, so what was the problem? The rear brake lines weren't even the right ones?

But that photo of the brake fluid looks like a metal line?

Yup. I'll never go to him again.

Correct, the fluid is coming from the hard line but I figured since I had to mess with that side I might as well replace that line. It originally had the aftermarket braided line I had installed but the moron must've not disconnected it before dropping the rearend and broke it. He replaced with a rubber line without even telling me--that's what I'm really mad about. Accidents happen, but he must've thought I'd never notice it.

I finally worked on the rear ds brake line. The guy who originally did it was a butcher. What happened was i blew the rearend, so I paid a shop to swap rears. I supplied the new/used rearend. We'll, I found out much later that the shop farmed it out to a guy. He must've stretched/broke my braided brake line and replaced it with a rubber line. Didn't even tell me. He also replaced the steel hard line and used the wrong type of flare. So anyway I installed a new braided line and used a bubble flare--Thx @Fless --. It now stops when I step on the pedal.
This is the flare he used for the brake lines connection. 20250315_173605.jpg20250315_173601.jpg
I kept messing up the flares. Found out I was using the wrong size.20250315_173508.jpg
Thank God I'm done. Now I need to use the Tech2 to bleed the abs--anyone know the correct process?
Also gonna swap the trans solenoids!

Oh yes. Months. Now I need to do the trans solenoids. Hopefully it'll fix its current issue--well not really current, it's been happening for awhile. It's like someone throws it in neutral while you're driving. No rhyme or reason, it'll just randomly do it.

I noticed this while working on it yesterday. 20250315_124007.jpg
From being lowered I'm assuming. Looks like an old war wound tho. I also noticed RUST!! Above the ds rear wheel well I have some small bubbling happening, and behind the wheel on the lower 1/4 panel the rust bubble has gotten much bigger.

that's because of the "floating axle" the panhard bar & lowering equipment used, weight of the gas tank, tires and probably some other factors.
the whole rear end moves left/right, hence why the bolt contacted the frame.
on mine I get rubbing of the tires on the inner rear splash guard, or did at some point. Either from extreme driving or something was out of whack at some point.

Wouldn’t it rub on the passenger side in that case? Our panhard bars are mounted on the right side so the axle would shift left when lowered and right when lifted

lowered the axle shifts right so does the control arm, which forced the bolt to hit on the frame
panhard bar is mounted top left and lower right, when lowered it moves right, not left

Unless you are looking at it from the front then left becomes right and right becomes left.... lol

I always try to use the terms Driver side and Passenger side when talking vehicles to avoid any confusion.

Or as Derek from Visegrip garage would say, Driver side and drinkers side... lol

She bit me in the ass again. Drove it to work yesterday morning and 1/2 to work i had almost no brakes. Made it to work ok. Checked it later and found the rear line i replaced last week wasn't secured and broke after being pinched between the frame and bump stop. Luckily I had another line with me--pack of 2. Replaced that, then the line was leaking like a faucet at the compression fitting--what I had fixed last time. Gave up and drove it home with no brakes.

Does anyone know the part number or where/how i can find the rear brake line on the ds that goes from that little brass "splitter that's mounted above the rearend(pumpkin) housing. Line goes from there into the rubber brake line that goes into the caliper. I have copper replacement line with the fittings to make my own line, but I'd rather buy it if it's available--and cheap enough.
