Tire size for 22" rims?

I am putting together a set of wheels and tires for my 2008 Yukon Denali. Factory was 20", and I have aquired a set of 22" Denali knockoffs and was unsure on correct tire size. I have seen 285/45R22 but also 275/50R22.

Any input on the "correct" size? Pic of the wheels, just because lol

285/45R22 was the original factory 22" tire size. The newer trucks have the 275/50R22. The former was slightly wider and shorter, the latter- slightly narrower and taller. I assume this was done to eek out another drop of fuel economy due to the slightly reduced rolling resistance of the narrower tire. The latter size might also be for a miniscule increase in ride comfort from the slightly taller sidewall.

You can compare the two sizes of 22" tires and your factory 20" tires. Spoiler Alert: The 285/45R22 is much closer to your original 275/55R20. So, your speedometer and all won't be thrown off as much. Not that the newer size would be terrible.

I just took off a set of 285/45/22s. They were too big after the stance modification.

When will the tire industry give tire dealers a set of “try on” tires? Sure it’s hard to figure with custom offset but just a set for oem spec wheels…… Other than underwear, it’s the only thing you can’t try before you buy.
