what the hell would cause this? The screws I have holding the speaker to the door causes it to short out and make little sparks. When I remove the screw the problem goes away. I know a good bit about many other things but stereos and electrical issues are not one of them. Any advice?

unknown at this time.
The screws have probably worn thru the insulation of a nearby wire. or a voice coil could be shorting through speaker basket frame when screws are in. something like that.

I pulled it apart to check all the wires...speakers are new. I insulated evertyhing and it seems to have stopped, it was driving me crazy because it was always worse when it rained and when it started to dry out rolling the window down would almost always get it working again. The reason for that was teh window would just come in contact with teh speaker wire and just bumping it made a difference....no it was not just a loose wire. As I took teh speaker in and out of the door I could get a tiny little spark right around any of teh thre holes I drilled for mounting.
