Any suggestions on double platinum vs iridium spark plugs for our 5.3L's? I can't find the OE recommendation in the PDF owners manual I have nor the AutoMATE online reference through my local library...

ACDelco lists them all as options and the Iridium 41-110 were OE.

I put Denso Iridiums in my 5.3 Suburban. After 75k miles, the engine was running like shit, and when I removed them, the electrodes were seriously deteriorated. Not impressed.

Mechanic wants to renew plugs and wires with NGK.
Any thoughts

Have him call the dealer and get the AC Delco OEM parts.

My thoughts are did you pull the plugs and check their condition and gap? Inspect the wires? The best plugs are stock while some run aftermarket wires without issue. A mechanic's scan tool should be able to find out why and where it's missing.

GM maintenance schedule says 97,500 miles, I was just going to do it early. The miss is just slight on idle,no lights,runs great.
I have had 5 tahoes or Denalis, just what I’ve done in the past.
My question was mainly about the choice of NGK sparkplugs over OEM Delco.

Ok, well, you got my two cents. Let's see who else chimes in. I know there are guys here that run NGKs. Thirty years ago I ran them in my Buicks. They were good for 5 horsepower but cost us 2 mpg. Sometimes I'd swap them in at the drags but after a while just stayed with the OE plugs.

I run NGKs that are 2 heat ranges colder in my supercharged 5.0 mustang, but run stock AC Delco iridium in my trucks

2001 Yukon SLT
2012 Yukon Denali XL
2011 Yukon Denali RIP 5/20/18

NGK apparently makes the AC Delco iridium plugs now so probably no real difference.

It wouldnt surprise me. NGK dealt with iridium early in the game because of them ***-o-neese ve-hicles I referenced. They kinda started using that tech earlier than the murican brands.

I had read it on here before and researched it back then and found some pretty convincing sources, although I can't recall at the moment where I read it.

However a quick search turned up this photo...

If you look closely you will see NGK stamped into the metal.

NGK may not make all of the plugs for Delco but it's a pretty safe bet that they do.

When I ordered my AC Delco air conditioning compressor, it came in a Delco box, and said "made in USA" on the box, yet it was a Denso compressor and it said "Made in Japan" on the compressor. But it was EXACTLY the same the the original that I removed from my truck. My OEM compressor was a Denso compressor. So I should have saved a few bucks and just bought a Denso compressor instead of the AC Delco, because it's the SAME DAMN THING!!!
Another time, I bought AC Delco spark plugs that said NGK on the plugs. Also, AC Delco belt tensioners are actually made by Gates. So save the money and just buy a Gates tensioner.

AC Delco is just a name since GM went to Delphi. Like any business they source parts from the cheapest source to try to turn the biggest profit.

Greetings I installed a set of E3 spark plugs in my 05 Yukon Xl 4 wheel drive. The gas mileage increased by 2 mpg on the freeway.
