Long ago, when I replaced the carpet, I made the mistake of deciding to strip the carpet from the bottom of the front door panels and replace it with matching carpet I ordered with the kit. If you’ve ever thought of doing this, don’t. The factory stuff is foam backed and bonded to the door panel and it’s about impossible to strip it and get the surface to accept new stuff. Anyway it’s been peeling ever since I did this. I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. I decided to replace the carpet again and used the same stuff but this time I cleaned everything with lacquer thinner. It’s been on a few days in hot weather and the passenger side started coming off already. Anybody know something stronger? I’m considering using construction adhesive but not sure. It’s frustrating. I did a damn near perfect job and still having issues.

I assume you sprayed both pieces and let them tack up 1st. That stuff usually never fails. I bet that construction adhesive wouldn't give up the ghost. Gonna do liquid nails? If you use that, just spread it out thin so once it dries it'll dry flat and not bumpy.

I concur with Tony. Liquid Nails is usually a fail safe, but it is unlikely to ever come off....well for you it will come off...just not without a few pages of work. Gotta dig back into both threads from the last few months and see your work man. I am sure it will keep me occupied for a few days! lol

I've never had good luck with spray adhesive Florida just gets too hot. Liquid nails is about the only glue that does as expected.

Yeah I sprayed both pieces and let them sit for 10 minutes, it said max was 15 and I wanted to be sure it was ready. I ordered 3M Industrial High Strength 90. I’ll give it a try, and if it fails I’ll use construction adhesive. The 90 is supposed to be way stronger than the 77.

I'd use this. Apply with a foam roller to both your door and the back of the carpet and let tack up. Press into place and use a J-roller.

That’s what the High Strength 90 is supposed to be, in spray form. I guess I’ll see, nobody had it local so I Amazon’d it.

I used this stuff in the past on some vinyl and it only lasted several months. I won't be using this stuff anymore, try the liquid nails.

Wow... I’m so glad my door panels don’t have carpet on them... hahaha. I believe some 2005 trucks didn’t have carpeted door panels and every 2006 I’ve seen in person doesn’t have carpeted door panels. I wonder why GM decided to do away with the carpeted door panels...
