Replacing Flexplate, what else is needed

I have a 2008 Yukon XL Denali AWD with a 6L80 trans and a 6.2L engine. Since I’m going to be replacing the Flex Plate is there anything I should replace since I’m going to be in there? Also if there’s another Thread that already covered this please point me in its direction because I couldn’t find it

yeah, what's called out as 519. the cover gasket. pretty common leak. most get the new plate with the rear main already installed too.

watch some videos, there's a little bit of alignment to watch our for. they sell alignment tools, but I'm not sure it's needed. Just make sure the rear main is centered before tightening down that plate



if you have it apart enough to get the oil pan down. replace that gasket too. they all leak at some point.

Recently took it into a transmission shop to get the transmission programmed and they said that the sound the trans was making was from a crack in the flex plate. They said that it shouldn’t be a problem for a while but it’ll be annoying as all heck lol. That’s why I want to replace it

I've cracked 2 flex plates--2 different GM vehicles. It sux. Good move on replacing it now rather then later.

I replaced the transmission torque converter lock-up O ring and front main seal when I did the RMS on my 06 Suburban LQ4/4L80e.

Just ensure torque converter is seated all the way in when reinstalling it.

No problem, the transmission was replaced but never programmed, I found it it needed to be programmed when the tow mode wasn’t working lol

Hmm, never heard of that normally the transmission will not work unless it is programmed to the vin, tow mode is standard and is just a momentary ground to the bcm, shouldn't need programming for tow mode to work. But maybe I am missing some information?
