What's your budget? That will really help people make some suggestions. I replaced all my air ride stuff with bilsteins and I'm happy, but I also lowered my truck quite a bit. If my truck was stock height, I would def look at the arnott industries products. They carry everything you need to keep the OE air ride and it's very reasonably priced.

well put it this way, i recently just rebuilt my transmission, replaced cat, and replaced a fuel injector. im tapped out. looking at getting a newer truck, but wanna keep this baby on the road without taking from my new truck funds.
the stocks will set me back. so, the bilsteins, did you have to change the springs or is that just to keep the ride height

I had a set of Bilstein HD's on for about a year, too rough for my taste. Replaced them with Edelbrock IAS shocks and love them. Handle great but plush when you want them to be.

You don't have to change anything to run the bilsteins. They will ride firmer than your current setup, that's for sure.

Who would be able to point me in the right direction for just new front shocks? I'm ridIng stock right now and like the ride quality except the body roll. I would like to reduce roll and if needed a sway bar is. Of out of the question. Budget is a couple hundred bucks but want the best bang for the buck. Thanks

So I've got the air ride, want to get rid of it, keep stock height. Want similar ride though.

So are the edelbrock or belltech the better package for smooth ride,/body roll at stock height.

I'm replacing front and rear?

Went with the Rancho 9000's adjustable

Took about 4hrs and a few tools and a heavy jack, didn't even have to take the wheels off

Setting 4 in the front, and 2 in the rear

Nice shocks, a tad costly , before the rebate

Rancho RS9000XL's

I finally junked the Autoride system on my 2001 Tahoe . Installed the Ranchos yesterday.

Fronts are RS999265 and Rears are RS999262.

I'm running 22 inch MB's and they are heavy. I set the fronts at setting 8 of 9 and left the rears at 5. So far I think the ride is ok. I'll post again after I put a few more miles on.

I got the shocks from Rockauto and they are still over $100 each. Rancho had a $100 debit card rebate on Rancho RS9000XL's thru June 30th however...

Update

I just wanted to post a follow-up to my earlier message.

The RS9000 shocks did make a difference. The ride is better and so is the handling.

My winter wheel/tires are 18 inch Escalade wheels with Bridgestone Duelers. Now, with the Ranchos, the truck rides better even with the heavier MB KL-77/Yokohama combo.

I have drop spindles and Beltech rear shock extenders, so the shock length is essentially stock.

I am happy to be rid of that Autoride junk.
