LOL...by "short and to the point" are you making fun of my mid-nightime small novel? -or- What's written in the link to Amanda's story on the WW event? Did you watch the video?

I honestly had no idea if GVWR was one of the factors or not? Associative logic made me think it could be? I was thinking that a Light Duty 3/4 ton axle may raise the

GVWR? And I'm trying to come up with whatever I can to help me sort through these listings faster.

Me jotting down those things that caught my eye in the LKQ listings was in no way to challenge the validity of what you said. I was just looking at the listings and zooming in on the RPO's and GVWR's to see them better. I also have my guard up about the integrity of the online salvage listing world in general... that's all

No sir not photo shopped, possibly removed and replaced? not authentic to the original is what I was thinking.. See if you see what I'm seeing??

One of them is Arizona- looks to be fine, Rpo sticker looks to be in glove box and untounched

One of them is Philly - air bubbles throughout and bottom right corner looks to have creases where it has been loose

One of them is Savnnah - picked at on bottom right corner and air bubbles throughout

Also the two Yukons show RPO stickers in different locations. One is over paint, and the other in glove box or some other black background on a white vehicle

Idk what these mean but none of it does anything to instill confidence

Well, maybe I did not read the whole article. I thought I actually read two and watched one more piece. It's past my bed time.

That's ok, when I do these things, it's easy to make mistakes and my work is rarely peer reviewed, I'm all for second glances.

Speaking of which, all three RPO sheets are of Short Wheelbase trucks. We want the 5th digit from 2011-2014 to be a 1. When you see that, then it makes sense that it has AXN. The second RPO has a 2 in the 5th position and does not have the larger axle.

Then there's that 2008 Cadillac Escalade. It's AWD (K for 5th digit) with the big axle. So I reckon that I learned something new today.

Not sure what the weekend holds yet but I can maybe get my on eyes on one close by for you if they're open Saturday. Bruce Auto Parts is close by and they list a bunch but don't say whether it's coming from a RWD or not. But, some of the pics clearly show that the vehicle doesn't have a front diff and they all have the RPO codes that show AXN. For example:

WOW, Bruce has 5. And all 5 have an RPO sticker (with AXN), stuck to a VIN printout that shows RWD on it. They're in the little thumbnail pics to the left. It helps that Im using a touchscreen computer with the ability to pinch pull zoom in out.... That gives me about 5hrs to find one closer to me. If not I may be heading that way Monday.

That's the most organized consistent photo and listing system I've seen yet.

If it works out I'd be honored to buy you lunch? I've already promised to name our next pet after @swathdiver for answering my 100 ?'s via DM

edit: Only have 5hrs because I won't be able to search or go get anything tomorrow..

....and they're all listed at $400 I would happily pay for the 86k mile one

I'll be gone on Monday but can likely head over there Saturday and lay eyes on it for you. I also want to see what else they have for these rigs that I can use.

Edit, oops. Looks like they're only open M-F 8-5. I can get over there tomorrow most likely too.

That's exactly what I need! Something to quickly eliminate or confirm candidates with. Thank you......again

I was a little bummed that she didn't put so much as a glimpse of me in the video footage(she never does)

But she did get my board in the background

HAHA! Well if they're anything like the rest, they won't answer the phone M-TH after 4pm. Friday you'll be lucky to get anyone after 230

Highly productive day...

Thanks to last weeks "coaching up" on the fundamentals of axle i.d. by VIN from @swathdiver & @Geotrash, I was able to end my recent string of strikeouts yesterday...

Made a 3hr road trip down to Lewisville Motors in Winston-Salem, NC and scored this beauty

Undoubtedly the 2nd best rear end I've ever brought home ;)

20230307_053444.jpg

.....and thanks to some early advice from @Doubeleive this was sitting in front of my garage when I got back

1st thought: wow this box is way heavier than I thought it was gonna be
1st thought after opening box:

Case thickness of OE 9.5" G80 Carrier= .395"
Case thickness of 9.5" Truetrac= .795"

I hope your wife understands the significance of bringing home this kind of rear end instead of another!

I'm so glad that the search is over! I was wondering if you were going to get them both!
Me also, I owe you guys one. Welcome to come up for Trout or swift water Smallmouth fishing, whitewater rafting, Appalachian Trail, golf at the Greenbrier, or ______(whatever) anytime.

Honestly was going to wait and get it later.....then thought about the front and rear 3.08 set I can sell + the extra 3.08 front diff(with missing passenger side tube I can return($300) and made myself do it so I could get through the buyers remorse stage as quickly as poss and enjoy what I bought... Plus Summit beat the $686 price I found it for on some site I'd never heard of. Still a lot to buy though.... coil springs, bump stops, HP Tuner MPVI interface, POR 15, Amsoil, bar style in lb torque wrench, new perf leather seat cover, sunroof track cable......then immediately into the Torque Converter job....kitchen stuff....smh. Here comes the anxiety again

HAhaahhaha... Thankfully, that's her kind of humor because she called about a minute after I typed that....had to read it to her ;)

Kinda banking on making sure there's visible progress being made in our kitchen everyday. That's my best chance of maintaining my current residency in the house

This the front diff you got the Cognito spacers for? I went back and Re-read that thread this morning. When I read it the other day I didn't catch that it was 2010+ 2500...

yea silverado/sierra 2500/3500,
spline - inside the diff i think are 33? but doesnt really matter youre connecting to the 8 bolt axle stubs.
the 8bolt complete cv axles are 36 spline iirc. cant use them on 1500s or pre-2010 2500s, however gmt900 and pre2010s are same size and both 33 spline at the wheel hubs....

Sup bro....Hope all is well in Fla! You still runnin those Cognito CV axle spacers? Any issues?

Been tryin to think of ways I could raise my truck game up nearer to the level of yours :D and have decided go Long Travel front suspension, w/DIY LCA's (cause you know I'm not paying desert racing fab shop prices...smh)

Working out the axle math currently. Tryin decide between goin with some extended travel 8-ball increased angle CV axle assemblies? -or- ordering some longer axle shafts? -or- cutting and sleeve welding my shafts? -or- a set of spacers?? All those last three options will likely get a little modification to my inner CV housings also?

Watched a really interesting vid, of a young man, taking a Dremel to the 90* edge on the inside lip of his inner, sliding tri-pod, housings. Dramatically increased his inner CV joint articulation angle at full droop.... Did it in 10-15min per side too, just by grinding that 90* inside corner of the outer end (directly under/inside the boot clamp), the inside corner that the axle shaft would be resting on when at full droop. 90* down to around 35-40*.....pretty impressive piece of ingenuity IMHO
