Good on ya for finding a paint color to match the rust.Built in place. Getting the bolt holes to align on the fly took a moment of thought.
Left, top and right lip are one piece bent plate; one shot, no trial or repeat fabrication and the outer face with the bolt head fit perfectly.
Rusty metal primer, what else?Good on ya for finding a paint color to match the rust.
Couldn't decide whether to "laugh" or "heart" You got the Heart, so now you get the laughRusty metal primer, what else?
Actually everything exposed in the picture was painted.
This matches your color preference better.
Best that could be done in near freezing weather but the heat gun came in handy.
Full *********** weld is not appropriate for bracket connections like it would possibly be for full capacity (in line) splices.Couldn't decide whether to "laugh" or "heart" You got the Heart, so now you get the laugh
Props to the fabricator; the work looks great! Hopefully he got full pen and it holds up forever!
While I agree that most of the load here is linear, there is still some lateral force at play. As long as he sufficiently fused the bracked to the frame, all should be well. I'd just hate to see it crack the frame.Full *********** weld is not appropriate for bracket connections like it would possibly be for full capacity (in line) splices.
The plates in that bracket are thicker than the frame tubes ever were so there is no point in overkill on the welds.
That bracket will be in the junkyard far before it's life ends.
The iron worker/fabricator who did the work has more than 60 years experience so I have no doubts.
Edit: (Looking back at this I have to laugh because the Garage Journal thinks that, referring to the weld, the proper name that the abbreviation "pen" comes from is a dirty word and blanked it out! Immature.)
So far so good. While I agree that most of the load here is linear, there is still some lateral force at play. As long as he sufficiently fused the bracked to the frame, all should be well. I'd just hate to see it crack the frame.
