Hey all, I know this has been asked a lot.

I've never owned a vehicle with such a difficult system to upgrade lol.

I've been looking for a system that retains all OEM functionality, but adds all the goodies like AA and all that jazz.

I purchased the best available option from Phoenix recently. They assured me that it would reatin all OEM functionality.

When I installed it, it did not retain it. I have the Y91 rpo code, full bose, and rear screen.

Their unit displayed on the rear screen, but the aspect ratio was off and the video was 1.5" tall. They were unable to offer a solution for this. Also, I wasn't able to let the kids watch something while I listened to music up front. Deal breaker there. On top of that, it wasn't able to use the OEM mic for calls. Through it, their customer service was wonderful, but this was a huge bummer.

Anyway, been searching for a good setup to retain all this stuff and I have been SOL.

Has anyone been able to do it?

Any ideas?

P.s. I'm having problems with my radio at the moment too. Got a few speakers not turning on.

Talking with crutchfield right now and they don't have any dual zone radios that fit my dash anymore. He said they're rare anymore. Weird

Cruchfield are robbers anyway, you can find the w8500, w8600 out in the wild still. And a double din is a double din it might need a small cut in the back of the dash.
The maestro rr retains bose fade and DSP., plus it has obdii integration

In a 2008 Denali with the Bose system would these radio's keep the back up camera and the factory ability to play DVD's, not that I use the option but I do have the rear screen and it should work if it is in there. I would like to add Apple Car Play for Iphone in my 2008 Denali and get the modern looking display. Factory unit works but is very dated now.

I’d really like to find something for my ‘13 Cadillac Escalade to add Apple car play and a radio/nav unit that doesn’t make the interior look so dated, has an easy user interface, and maintains all factory functions.

I like these units here:

Something plug and play that has a hi-res screen and looks OEM+. But given everyone else’s crap shoot dice roll experience with the “Tesla style” android head units my gut tells me it will have glitches, problems, and not be everything I want it to be. That and I very much do not like how from what I’ve read with these android head units it seems the steering wheel volume controls then control the amp and the volume on the head unit controls the volume.
Maestro rr & pioneer or kenwood double din, like the wnex 8400/8500

Honestly, this method here from @Doubeleive is probably the best and only way to upgrade the radio, add Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, plus maintains factory functions/features. Any Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine HU would suffice.

There’s just not a lot of great dash kits for the GMT900 Escalade.

I digress…
