If it were mine i could not live with it being like that. That's a pretty important tube and seal to have an iffy connection.
If you take the tube and windage try off it would be pretty easy to get any shavings out.

Yup, this is my worry lol. I think that with the girdle it may be getting held up better than stock as is with the one bolt. I also have no idea if I tore up the threads on the oil pump. I think I am going to try to drill it out and see what happens

@thefrey My pickup tube is only using the 1 factory bolt to hold it in so it should be like yours. Drilling it out should be easy enough but in that position I would be worried about metal shaving contaminating the engine.

Decisions, decisions. I think I would feel better if it was the other bolt that broke since I guess that girdle could over time move.

I would remove the tube, center punch the broken bolt..... Pick up a left hand drill bit set...... Which not only will help it unscrew, but the heat will break loose any home from the loctite. Start small and work larger. Won't take long. Then clean thoroughly with compressed air, and wipe everything down with a lint-free cloth.

While you're at the hardware store, take the one good bolt you have with you.... And match it with two higher quality bolts.

I definitely wouldn't run it the way it is. It would always be in the back of my mind.....

Why can't any of you just tell me to just not worry about and that it'll be totally fine LOL...

Yeah, it'll always be in the back of my mind.... I should fix it while the pan is off.

Took about 10 minutes once you got the tube off? Priceless, when compared to 100,000 miles of mental torture....lol

Yep… exactly lol. Bought a kit from harbor freight that had extractors and left handed bits. Worth the $13. I didn’t even need an extractor either… left handed bit walked it out enough to finish it with pliers

Also bought new high grade bolts from the hardware store. Put them in and they actually got snug. Now I have 2 solid connections on the pickup tube and I’m a happy camper.

Some good lessons learned from this one lol

I've seen it on 6.2's over the past five or six years. Each one has turned out to be the result of a bad fuel injector. Running too lean in that cylinder. The discoloration of the valve in that cylinder gives it away. When you put it back together again, I would replace all the injectors.

It's the one main reason why I always check the long-term fuel trims on the Tech 2 at every oil change on my wife's Escalade. Paid off, around 177,000 miles I noticed the long-term fuel trim on one bank was 16%, while the other one was 3%. New injectors brought both to less than 2%.

I have been thinking about this and possible fixes I need to chase.

I can only assume that I have an injector that is bad/going out. Would a fuel injector cleaner work or is this something that I need new injectors (or send off to get cleaned)?

Also, since fuel trims are per bank and not per injector, would one bad injector cause that fuel trim to go out of wack? Last I checked I was at 4.7 for bank 2 long term (I would think cyl 4 is on bank 2) but I need to check again.

Yes, cylinder 4 is on Bank 2, which is the passenger side.

4.7 isn't real horrible on the long-term fuel trim. The last 6.2 I changed injectors on, so 15% on the long term fuel trim on one bank, and 11% on the other. It actually ran well. New injectors really smoothed out the idle though.

What's your long-term fuel trim on the other bank?

If you want to try a fuel injector cleaner, there's one that pretty much all the professional shops swear by:

I need to double check my numbers.

I was getting a P0171 code when I checked last week as I had an O2 sensor hit the can. When I checked then, it was 9.4 on bank 1 and 4.7 on bank 2. I am going to check tonight to see how the fuel trims are.

I assume the way to check if the cleaning works is if the long term fuel trims reduce?

On a fresh set of injectors I usually see zero to 1% on the short term, and zero to 3% on the long term

And when fully warmed up I usually see zero to 1% fluctuating back and forth, plus or minus

That injector cleaner is pretty expensive, seems like a lot of people have had really good results. Wouldn't hurt to give it a shot

I've used BG44K multiple times with good results.

I have heard good things about Redline then a close 2nd is Techron. Haven't heard of BG44K. Haven't done any research yet but is it better than the others?

Seems to be the best thing out there since sliced bread. Don't think I've ever heard anything negative about it...

If for some strange reason anyone ever feels like doing research,
bobistheoilguy.com

If you want to keep the research simple, look for fuel system cleaners with
Poly Ether Amines.
