New headlights for 07 Tahoe

Hello:

I have a 07 Tahoe and the headlights are starting to yellow. So, I am looking at replacing both of the headlight housing, bulbs, etc.


I would like to replace them with the newer style lights, like the newer models now have. I have just begun looking around and honestly not sure about some of the terms; such as Projection, LED, etc.


I see sets on eBay and Amazon for about $200 per set. My question is; is there additional hardware or other items I will need to purchase in order to get these install. I realize that a $100 headlight won’t be top of the line. But, my car 11 years old.


Also, if I do get new headlights, will they need to be leveled or anything else?


Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

See my signature...2007 Avalanche. I added the Spyder Chrome headlights ($275) plus replaced all bulbs with 8000K. Primary headlights are HIDs, but you don't have to go that route. You can just use regular bulbs. Daytime runners and turn signals are LEDs. All done for $350.

I didn't need ANY additional hardware. The Spyder's came with everything needed (yes, bulbs too). You just use the harness from your stock headlights and that's it.

I don't have any on-hand. I'll try to get some and upload them. My garage doesn't face the street, so it's not easy to find a spot to do this...but I will!

I took my headlights out yesterday to put some led bulbs in, only to find out they hung out too far and hit the core support. Also this had to be the most screws I've ever removed to change a bulb. 28 in total I believe.

Did you change the main H13 bulb to LED? Not sure if you meant that. If you did, that's not only illegal, but the light output sucks even worse than it already did.

Everyone just needs to do it right and do it like this. Hands down.

No it was just the high beam but neither would have fit anyways.

Not really applicable here, if you read the OP he has a Tahoe. That is, unless BFC will do Tahoe headlights for this body style (it isn't listed on the site).

And are you in New Mexico also? Since you say that swap is illegal....



To the OP, if you have $100 to spend freely until you ultimately decide what to do with your headlights, do yourself a favor and pickup a set of these from Ebay. I've purchased 2 sets now, and have been 100% happy with them. They truly fit like OEM, and look the same. You aren't going to really gain anything from headlight performance, but your truck will look 10X better with fresh, clear headlights. I've got one set to use while modding another pair for a true HID retrofit (Mirimoto D2S 4.0 projectors). There is a thread in my sig if you're interested in reading it, I've run into some issues with the retrofit. Biggest being our Tahoe headlights only have one adjustment.

What is this "illegal" you speak of?

I installed LED bulbs in my 13 tahoe and the light output is great, same cutoff as the OEM bulbs.
Now if you are talking about HID bulbs, that is a different story as the low beams have no cutoff therefore causing glare, which is why they must be in a projector housing. The LED is different, it goes in a stock headlight.

20 minutes with a Dremel tool to remove some material where the LED fan/heatsink hits the metal and all is good.
