So I just bought a 2004 Mercury marauder from out of state and its being transported to me now. I asked pictures be taken of it being loaded and I’m wondering if the straps around the tires are gonna cause damage to my tires

It’s approximately a 700 mile trip. 12 hours long but it’s gonna be strapped like that for about 24 hours

Always liked those.

Yes, your tires will be damaged. I'd expect eggs in the sidewalls soon after unloading. It needs bigger wheels, anyway. Something like these would do nicely:

That’s what I was worried about is bubbling in the sidewalls.

I really like the stock 18’s though

I thought those were 16s. The tires look a bit aged, so if they transported it like that, it's probably not such a big loss. Still, a car transporter should know better and be better equipped. They have special straps for grabbing tires.

Love Marauders. I used to drive a Crown Vic Sport and, at the time, had visions of upping to the Merc. Great ride, tons of room, easy to operate, killer road trip ride and surprisingly quick. Add a blower and it’s Goodnight, Irene.

Did yours have the center console with shifter? I really like those, don't see those very often.

Yeah all the marauders come with the center console and floor shifter. The crown vic lx sport also come with the same. I use to own a crown Vic sport.

Different engines though. The marauder comes with a 4.6 32 valve Dohc and 302 hp apposed to about 200’s in the crown Vic 4.6.l single overhead cam I believe. I’m still no expert though. Lol

Yes 95escahoe, the silver birch metallic is actually a lot more rare. They only made I think 996 in 2004 and even more rare with the light grey flint interior and factory moonroof which mine has although I personally like the black interior. I believe they only three hundred something with the color and options combo I have. The seller also provided a certificate

It’s got 111k miles. Two owners. It is an east coast car. Some surface rust on the underbody. My only plans are to replace the dual factory exhaust with flowmasters and cruise it to work and what not.

The car arrived to my house but I actually haven’t even been able to check it out in person yet. Working a double till midnight tonight. Here are some more pics that were already taken

And yes lx sports are hard to find. I always check for them on Craigslist and have only seen one listed in the past 6 months

The tires have dry rot already but yes, he damaged them. That is not the proper way to secure a vehicle anyway, DOT would pull him over. There's nothing to keep the body from hitting the car in front, that guy is a fool.

Hopefully, it arrive in good condition, those are cool cars.

Yeah, center console with shifter. It was a great car for the six years that I drove it. I added a custom tune, billet rear control arms, Marauder air box & rear swaybar and some other stuff. Dollar for dollar, it was the best car I ever owned.

Congrats to OP on scoring the Marauder

When I had a Police Interceptor back in 2005 I was trying to hunt down a good 1 owner well maintained Marauder. Every Marauder I looked at from Miami to Jacksonville was beaten to a pulp.

The FHP had small number of them that were always kept in mint condition [whenever I saw them out on the highway which was very often] but never found out where they auctioned them off. Thought about getting a LX Sport but never did.

Nice find on your awesome Marauder John!!

Thanks everyone

Car arrived yesterday. Have not got a chance to clean it yet but took a few quick pictures of it.

Engine and trans seam good. There is a weird squeaking noise from the steering wheel, maybe steering column. Idk but it is a beautiful car. Interior is super clean as well. Time will tell how mechanically sound it is but I don’t see anything major from driving it around the neighborhood

Also I’m gonna have to look into how to cover up the holes in the front bumper after I remove the license plate bracket since we don’t use a front license plate here in Michigan
