I got the Viper 5901 alarm installed on my 96 Hoe last week. This alarm is the shit! It has an lcd remote, 1 mile remote range, 2 way remote for command confirmation, remote start, smart start options, 2nd 5 button remote, fully customizable for your preferences, and has 5 aux channels. It has shock, hood, door, and hatch sensors and the remote tells you which sensor is tripped if you are in range. So far it has worked flawlessly and the remote start is bad ass. It has a ton of awesome features that are very convenient. I highly recommend it for anyone that is looking for an alarm. I feel better now that I have an alarm. I would really suck to have $3k+ in stereo equipment stolen!! Oh, plus the remote will tell me how cold it is inside my truck on cold mornings :)

Now that you have this, you will feel its gonna be a must for all current and future cars. I couldn't even go 1 month from the time I got the HOE to put it in. So-Cal summers are hot, must have for a/c.

The guys that put mine in did a very good job and always do great custom work. If you go with this system you wont regret it. My truck gets to be 110 or more easy when sitting in the sun down here in Florida. Gotta love having it cold and waiting for me :) Also I have an iphone so I may add the module so I can control everything with my phone eventually.

I just installed a 5901 this weekend for a buddy of mineon his 07 Silverado. It is a really sweet system. My only gripe is that its default setting is manual transmission mode. It would not start at first and I had to figure out why. Then once I found out it was setup for a manual transmission all I had to do was change the setting to auto transmission and voila it fired right up!

So far its been awesome! The shop I got it from was doing free installation so I had them set everything up and then I set up the remote with all my preferences. Ive tested to remote to about a 1/2 miles and its worked perfect. Its really a great system

Hey, silly question but I have a 96 Yukon that I recently picked up. It has a Viper alarm, not sure what variety. I have recently sourced an additional remote but I need access to the unit in the truck to program the remote. I have no clue where to find it. Any idea if there is a spot it is USUALLY installed? Thanks in advance. Brian

Nice, I have the 791 (I think) but I don't think I can use any of the aux options because of the year of the truck. Or at least I haven't figured out how.

I've got the same system! It's awesome. I actually just added some accessories to it too! I had a tilt sensor, glass break, back-up battery, and additional shock sensor put on. This system makes me feel so much better. I can be in my apartment, with my car in the garage, and still be alerted if the alarm goes off. Now that's security!

Hey Scott, you said that yours had trouble starting but was in manual mode. How to you change it? For some reason, my remote start will not fully start. It'll start, then shut off too soon.. It just needs an additional half second for the engine to turn over. Idk if that's my issue but worth a shot.

I've had the system for a few months now and it has always worked perfectly for me. Remote starts works everytime like it should. I think my favorite thing is that if the remote is within the range of the truck, it tells you if the car alarm is set off. (which I think really is close to the one mile range that it claims to be, ive started my truck from a stupid far distance)
