Whats the brand? unless i missed it, i would only go w/ well known/reliable brands. The last thing you want is to spend 1000 bucks on gears, locker, and install only to have them whine every time your coasting.
btw, are you sure you wanna run a locker in a DD application ?

I agree with 99coop. A locker is tough on a DD and get some decent name gears. I am running yukons and they are great so far.

That page said that I need 4.27 gears for my 33"s to get back to stock gearing. Does that sound correct? But when I did the quick calculation (.12*33) it came up with a 3.96 gears, which I guess puts it between fuel economy and factory ratio. I'm pretty sure that I have 3.73's in there now (from the code)

If you are going to stay with 33", just do 4.10's & call it a day. If you want a bit more umph do 4.27. It is a bit harder to find 4.27 for the 8.25 front diff but 4.10's are abundant. Now if bigger is in the near future like 35"s, do 4.56. It's just my 2¢ as I have run both 33" & 35" with 4.56 gears.

I agree with Bowtiefreak get the YUKON set for strength and
quietness of function. Cheaper sets have a tendancy to roar
even when new and installed correctly. My 0.02$ worth.

Those calcs are for 1:1 manual. Don't forget your overdrive if you are looking at highways speeds.

performance I will put it in 4Low. It is not like my grocery getter will be

1) 2wd place rear in High gear for gas mileage let's say 3.73
2) 4wd place rear in equal ratio as front (Low gear) 4.88 or 4.56

Is there even a small 2spd rear out there that could do this trick ?

Read into underdrives, they go between the transmission and transfercase and do something similar. When dissenganged it is 1:1 so it is factory gearing but when engaged it switches to another gear ratio like 2:1 for better off road gearing.

Due to the fact of all that has to happen in a rear end a small two speed rear end wouldnt be feasible and still have any sort of strength.
