Yes, the throttle body was cleaned before install and throttle relearn was performed.

Dammit bro, I missed it but I would have mentioned to replace those heater tee's on the firewall while you had good access to them. Oh well.

At the time i bought it, s4hit box Yukon's with high miles and lots of problems were ranging from 4k to 10k around my part of the country, and still are.
So i bought the best one for the cheapest price i could find that had potential. Asking was 6k haggled over text's down to 4K over a few days before i even saw it.
It has a good body and interior. Iffy engine but ran and drove decent.
4K later i was driving it home 150 miles with low oil pressure and all the dash lights on. It made it with no problem.
I have done most everything on a budget.
NOS parts, Good used parts, New parts. Helps i can do all the work my self. I also have not worried about posting the small things i have done either. Still more to do.
This is my usual Modus operandi. Buy it, fix it, sell it and on to the next. I'm getting old enough ill be keeping this one though!
The wife will have none of it though. When she gets a new vehicle it has to be newer than what she has and everything has to work.

Think i figured out the rough idle when cold today. Was watching misfires at cold start up and #1 was almost a steady miss and #8 had a few. Has new plugs, so i swapped in different plug wires and everything smoothed out and no more misfires. Kinda odd though as it only missed when cold. Warmed up, it ran fine.

Changed the oil today at maybe 1k miles since i put the engine in as by now anything that is going to flush out should have by now.
There is a little flower sparkle in the bottom of the drain pan that I'm attributing it to 2 things. Did not clean it out from the old engine oil drain and the new cam bearings may be shedding a slight bit. Next oil change i assume will be clear.
Interesting though. I was using a WIX XP filter and the oil pressure was running about 25 psi (ish) hot idle. Put a PF-63 filter on and oil pressure jumped up 5 psi so now after a 10 mile drive and 1 WOT pull it is now 30 psi (ish) at hot idle. So another +.

They were the original wires. I have 5 or 6 sets of original wires around here. They usually work just fine in a pinch.

I had been running VR&P and this oil change i went to Quaker state. Engine for sure is quieter as @swathdiver had mentioned in a different post.

Fantastic Build! You should be quite proud of yourself.

I don't think it was much of a build, more a replace the bad part with good used. With everything i have done i now expect it to last a good while.
The only real thing left is a trans but the current one is working fine.

I was a nut for big fancy plug wires in my racing days! LOL These GM wires work just fine, even old ones as long as they're not damaged or worn on the ends.

If they ohm out in the 800s, your good to go.

I'm to lazy to research it i guess. This Running core 6.2 i removed I'm thinking of doing a garage rebuild but im wondering if the pistons are press pin or floating?
If they are floating, i think i just might rebuild it instead of selling it.

Have you rebuilt an engine before? That’s on my checklist of things I’d like to do. I’ve always kicked around the idea of buying a junkyard LS block just to rebuild. But then again I have no project cars to put it in.

OHYA more than 1. Last was a 454 a few years ago. Never rebuilt an LS though.
If i do this 6.2 it will be more a refresh. No machine work on the block just a dingle ball hone then clean, clean, clean! New pistons, Rings, Rods, Mains, Cam bearings, all STD size. Have the heads rebuilt and of course a complete gasket set.

This is a great writeup! Thanks for all the photos. My Yukon just passed 185k miles and climbing fast (90mi/day). I'm already coming around to the idea that at some point I'll have to replace my engine. Where did you source yours? I was thinking of grabbing a $600 core from my local pull-a-part and rebuilding it ahead of time for a swap just like you did.

Mine came from a wrecking yard also with known compression and oil pressure as they run them on a test stand before selling them. Also had a 6 month guarantee.
Naturally, 8 months later i finally installed it. I don't remember the cost atm but seems like $1900.
