Bored, so I took apart my old 6.2

I often times just do a Google search. Something like: "Summit Racing single stage 1 gallon black"...and that works better than going through their website.

FYI, get the App and it gives you some sort of rewards points. And they have a $20 off 250, etc promo right now.

I hate the way they make you sit around in their retail store. I went this past weekend to the Arlington store to pick up a transmission rebuild kid. Place was packed. One guy got upset because he'd been waiting there for a while. I waited long enough, then my name disappeared from the monitor. I glanced over their counter and spotted my order, it was just sitting there. They didn't call my name. Not the first time that's happened, sadly.

Here is a video i found of the exact noise this engine made cold under a load. It almost went away when up to temp.
I always let it run for at least 5 minutes before driving and never push it till fully up to temp.

Huh... I am still chasing my tick trying to diagnose it. Mine sounds like this, but I still hear it when it's hot... I kind of left piston slap out of the picture because I think (or thought) it was a lifter, but now I'm real confused lol...

Generally, piston slap will quiet down as the engine warms up and everything expands.
Exhaust leak sounds similar. Any broken exhaust manifold bolts?
If it's the same from start to hot and always there it's probably a lifter.

I got this video of the valve train the other night. You can hear the tick pretty clearly. I’m gonna check the other side probably some time this weekend. Was checking to see if one of the lifters was bleeding down excessively and squirting oil but don’t seem to have that issue on the passenger side. This is when the engine was hot too.

Both my exhaust manifold bolts are broken in the very rear. But the rest I put new on recently, and I don’t think it’s an exhaust leak I have… the sound is much louder when the engine is cold but still very noticeable when it’s hot. Sometimes is intermittent which adds to my confusion.
