Got the oil pan off today. The stabilizer bar was already off. It was removed as part of the rear main engine seal job that I'm doing too. Remove the cross member (4 bolts) that's under the pan. The 4 steering rack bolts need to be removed. Both axle shaft bolts(6 ea) need to be removed. The 4 bolts that hold the front differential to the frame need to be removed too. Then lower the differential until it rests on the driver side lower a-arm attach point. Let the passenger side drop until the pan can be removed. It doesn't need to come all the way out. This will ease re-assembly.
Here are a couple of good videos:

I got the oil pan cleaned up and painted and ready to reinstall. Installed a new oil cooler adapter gasket Felpro#72462, a new oil pump pickup tube o-ring Felpro# 72401, a oil pressure relief valve deflector GM# 24237531, oil pan gasket GM# 12612350.

While in the pan to change the gasket #12612350, I installed an AFM Oil Deflector, GM# 12639759, to the AFM pressure relief valve, per TSB 10-06-01-008M. I also installed a new oil pickup tube o-ring, Felpro#72401. The old o-ring was hard and brittle. I installed the pan back on the engine today.

Good write up! I’m looking into this as my pan is currently leaking. I would have never thought about painting it and replacing all those other items as well. Glad I saw this!

She's got 163k miles now. It's been 2 yrs and 30+k miles since I did all that work and she is still dry as a bone and doesn't consume or leak any oil. I left the catch can on but it doesn't catch much of anything with the new improved valve cover and the piston rings freed up.

What was the part number on the new valve cover gasket? I’m trying to figure out if my L9H has them or not.

2007-2008 Valve cover driverside – GM# 12570427
2009-2011 valve cover driverside - GM# 12642655

Replaced the whole valve cover, not just the valve cover "gasket". The vc gets replaced because the improved pvc system is built into it. The original cover and its built-in pcv system was/is inadequate.
