ok i have a 98 4 door hoe with just over 200k on the clock. well i got a ses light for a misfire on cylinder 4. i checked the plugs that i just replaced 1k ago. cyl 4 was fouled and covered in oil. i figure the rings are going. at first i was just gonna gasket everything and redo the spider injection . then i decided ill do a valve job with it. then it was .30 over with a mild cam. then it was stroke it out to a 383. now im thinking of the lq4 swap. i wanna spend around 5k on this project and i found a complete lq4 from pace for $3500. im not sure of what all i need for the swap i saw branndon_b's stuff but it seems he got just about everything he needed when he got the motor. and honestly im open to other ideas to.

Can't go wrong with a LQ4 swap! It'll run stronger than any blown sbc, IMHO.

There is literally a shitload of guys over at performancetrucks.net that have swapped all sort of new gen engines into older stuff. Go do some research there ...

Yes, you can swap from electronic to cable driven TB. It's done often that you can find detailed write ups on it.

i would recommend the new GM crate 572.. plenty of power ball loads of torque.. and by gosh it is a nasty motor

620 hp @5,500 and 660 ft/lb @ 4,500

OR how about a Blown 572.. making just over 1,000 HP

dude its just money you can always make more... a camaro with this 572 blown made like 1,200 and ran 244 at Bonniville and set a new record. if that tells you anything about how sick this motor is

when i have my 35 year old mid life crycest i am gonna have a chevelle with on mated to a 6 speed.....

i think this is the best bet for your motor swap.. in all honesty

ok then.

the LQ9 and 4l65 is gonna eat up every bit of that 6k.. thou an amazing power package.. i think you could build a LQ4 and 4l80 for the same dollar and have more power with same reliability..

simply because there are so many more LQ4 than the LQ9 out on the market and the LQ9 and 4l65 is a highly desired causing the price to be higher...
