Are they any stouter??

Mine came w/the lovely plasti-chrome handles. I broke then replaced two of them, Then pulled them all back in '15(?) for some el cheapo textured blacks I got off jeffazon when I was going through my plasti-chrome delete phase lol

I may have to start anew on this subject. I'm wanting some that feel (and are) better made
Probably. But I don't notice the handles on any of my trucks or SUVs feeling cheap.

Probably better said: I was more surprised the OE were plastic chrome on a >$55k truck? IDK why though, the only vehicle I've ever owned that didn't have plastic handles is my 1980 Corvette lol
I was also surprised the textured black amazon replacements were so inexpensive? >$50 for all 4

They're a totally different type of plastic.....softer, more malleable. Of the two, they feel less well made; yet somehow, they've survived 3x longer than OE

Aesthetically, I love the GM design. Functionally, not so much...

My wife's Merc coupe has handles that utilize the same style lateral pivoting lever. But the hand placement openings are not so centrally located across the handle. They're in a better position of leverage, offset towards the rear of the car, further away from the the much more robustly made fulcrum arm. You can rip away at them all day and they pivot every single time.

The GM design has far too weak of an attachment arm for the hand placement section to be that close to the pivot point. Rolling your wrist laterally, even slightly, to get a car door open is counterintuitive. It's the opposite of how you would think things should be designined

I hate to be so critical of one part on an awesome vehicle, but any kid who's been to a playground a couple of times can tell you what's wrong with GM's design on these handles....
It's time consuming to replace these door handles and seal the door cavities up correctly....and I'm too OCD to have 3 UV faded handles and 1 new one lol Screenshot 2025-01-15 6.56.16 AM.pngScreenshot 2025-01-15 7.08.08 AM.png

So the black amazon replacements are good?

Mine are starting to loose the rubber washer behind the fulcrum end, and for some reason the paint on the backside of the handle feels scuzzy, even after cleaning them...

I had an employee break the RR early on, maybe a year after purchase, but I was able to fix it. They've been on my truck for 9yrs now. I did have to go back and repair that RR again about 3yrs ago, but had i not rushed through the repair the first time, it likely would've lasted longer.

I pulled the LF (driver) off last week after the 18" of snow and ice we got here in the WV.

I don't know if I would say "good" because of the design, but they have worked for 3x the span of the plastic chrome that it came with from GM

Wanted to share this.. It's the ony metal option I remember seeing aside from the $600 LED light sporting models?

edit: of course the fact that it keeps saying "metal" and not aluminum or alloy or some kind of reputable material doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy, but I guess even "metal" has higher tensile strength and shear rating than it's equal in "plastic".... Or at least it should lol

Those black metal handles should come with a "Danger: Will Robinson!!" sensor or two.

They look like the same brand as @5StarCustmSolutns posted.
Looking at them though, there's not a whole lot of metal.
So I guess it's still plated plastic on the chrome ones.

he said outside is all metal, the inside still has plastic which makes sense to use injection molding versus casting for better fitment. but the problem of chrome flaking should not be a issue

You're right, it does say plastic body but metal handle.

Reviews on their other handles are mixed..

Just saw this.

The grab handle is solid metal, so all of the pivoting portions are metal. The only plastic is the ends and the black plastic piece that goes between the handle and the door.

They are SUBSTANTIALLY heavier than OEM handles.

I can't speak to longevity at this point as I just installed them a few days ago but I will say that I am quite impressed with them so far. For the price, I will say it is a no brainer for me.

As to everyone making comments about them getting hot in the sun. I can say I live in Florida and it is already miserably hot down hear and I can't tell any difference in temperature when I grad these handles.

Of course mine are chrome and probably do a better job of reflecting/rejecting some of the heat than what the black handles may do, so YMMV.

Questions before buying the A-premium ones:

Are the nutserts in metal or plastic? (so far all three handle failures were with the nutsert).

If the A-premium nutsert is in plastic, does it seem any stronger than the cheap all plastic handles?

Has anyone tried pouring epoxy around the plastic nutsert standoffs or done anything else in an attempt to reinforce them?

If the A-premium nutserts are no stronger, are there other reasons why they are worth the money?

I just want handles that function and not fail if pulled on too hard during the winter.

The threaded part looked to be brass iirc..
But the standoff they were embedded in was plastic.
Some photos here...

One big negative is the black plastic is starting to look dry.. This after only about six months parked outside, in the shade at least half the time.

Another thing I notice, the silicon bumpstop (square with hole) looks more durable than the factory foam one, but can squeek/squidge a little.
