25 Yukon- OK I guess I messed up. Removed the door panel to install some extra sound deadening, no problem. I did hook the cable back up to the door handle. After completion the door will not open inside or outside. I suppose the cable must have slipped off during my reinstall. Of course the panel cannot be removed while closed due to bolt at the bottom. Any suggestions of how I can get the door unlatched with it closed. Really appreciate any ideas.

with these new ones no telling they make the plastic fit pretty tight, only thing I can think of is to try a slim jim kit from harbor freight on the inside and see if you can grab the cable and pull it enough while pulling the inside handle and see if you can macgyver it open. otherwise inquire with the dealer service department or a autobody shop.
I am sure a new door panel is not cheap.
let us know how it works out

Took the panel off the other door and found that the cable for the inside handle is seperate from the outside handle, so if the inside cable is disconnected, the outside still works. After some digging I found the child lock function in the controls section and engaged then disengaged- BINGO. All normal now with door opening ok. ???? Oh and by the way a slim jim has no way to actuate the lock that I can see. Thanks for your interest.

glad you got it it worked out, the purpose of a slim jim would be to "grab" the cable and it if was still attached to the lock then pulling on it would potentially activate the mechanical lock, for instance if the cable was attached but was not inserted into the cable holder properly, this would cause the cable to not have enough tension to open with the door handle, pulling on the cable however would.
I don't like how they decided to go with a flexible cable versus the old trusted metal rod.
The cables that are used on my silverado for instance are sold in different lengths, particularly for the rear doors I guess because of the regular cab, double cab or crew cab options the cable is shorter or longer so it is easy to order the wrong length cable.
you'll see a silverado rear door cable for sale but then the ball is dropped and no telling what it fits....
