I’d like for someone to check the Forward Lamp harness connector at the X50A fuse block. It’s circled in yellow. You’ll have to remove the top of the fuse block to access it.

I want to see if there are wires landed in the H2 & H6 positions. If we can power them correctly, perhaps that can address the brightness on the 18+ LED strip.

Hey sorry for the delay, I tried to remove the orange fuse holder picture below but wasn’t sure how todo it.

I’ve attached photos of the harness and bottom of the fuse box

That’s odd. I sub’d, but haven’t received any notifications.

So the pins are present on the circuit board, but the corresponding terminals aren’t present in the connector based on what I can see.

Can you tell if terminals are present in H3 and J6?

The next step would be to land a terminal in the H2 & H6 positions and run the wires to pin 6 at each headlight to see how the LED strip behaves. I can supply the terminated wires. To ensure the headlight works correctly and we are getting accurate results, you’ll need to remove the terminal at position 6 on your headlight harness and insert the test wire. I’ll send you a PM with another idea.

So I did this change to my 2017 suburban. Lights function as described. Problem is my check engine light is on now. Called OnStar and they said both my headlight bulbs are out. Like I said, they all work, just the change for led drl instead of low beams. Anyone else have this issue? I’m wondering if it was just temporary and needs time to clear yet, or if it’s giving me that because the led don’t draw enough power so it thinks the bulbs are out

Edit: guess I should add that headlights are 35w HID’s incase that makes a difference. No power relay on them yet, still waiting for it in the mail.

That’s most likely your issue. I’ve only had one other with similar symptoms. I think his was related to a particular type of LED bulb in the high beams.

You mean the led strip not drawing enough power, or the HID’s I have being the issue?

If you mean the LED, you know of a workaround other than splicing in a resistor?

The way I’m reading your previous post is that you have the LED strip circuit now powering the HIDs without a relay harness. Since the ballasts draw a good bit of current when they start up, I’m thinking that may be why you’re getting the bulb outage message.

Thanks for the help Matt. I’ve got a relay on order. Unfortunately taking a while to get here. But turns out check engine light went out today on its own. So all is good!
