What bugs me about my '05 is there is no way to disable auto door locks.. Sounds like an '05+ thing...

I wish there was a way to run an '04 BCM in my '05 just to disable that garbage.... (can I?)

You mean when you put into Drive, the doors lock automatically? But they don't automatically unlock when you put it back into Park?

When I did the V6 to V8 swap on my 99 Silverado I damaged the BCM because i kept the V6 fuseblock instead of swapping the V8 fuseblock. Anyways, I got a BCM from the junkyard and everything seems like it works like before. I was talking to a buddy that also has a 99 Silverado and he says 1999 models didn't have that feature where doors lock automatically. I could have sworn my 99 originally did it, but he seems to think that started in 2000 or whatever BCM I got swapped into my truck? So IDK?

Edit: I do have the 04 Project Suburban 2500 at my brother's house. I can ask him to check what that one does, if you want?

Thanks for that, but no need..
Because everything I have read says there was a DIC option in the earlier trucks, but around '05 they took the option away. (bastards!)
My door locks work, but the locking/unlocking/having to put into park to unlock for passengers is annoying to me.

Autosync took care of this in the GMT900, but unfortunately they don't have anything for GMT800..

I emailed ewalt's tuning to see if they can program the older BCM to work in my truck..
(need VIN changed and hope the other modules communicate the same? idk)

Another thought I had was to disconnect the door modules from the BCM.. From what I can tell in the wiring diagrams, the remote door lock receiver is in the passenger door module, and IF they could work independently from the BCM, the BCM doesn't need to know if my doors are open or closed or locked etc. Looks like one gmlan wire (class 2 serial data) from both front door modules connect to BCM.. However for the driver switch to control the passenger locks/windows, and for the remote to unlock all doors, the two door modules must still communicate with each other I'm guessing.. And most likely a host of other issues, but I'm clinging on to hope..

In the end, if I can get rid of the ridiculous bonging sound from key-in/door-open and seatbelt, I could live with the door locks..

Good news! Ewalts said they can program my BCM so I can disable the auto-locks through the cluster!
$200 fix though.. Might have to let my funds recuperate, but I feel much better just knowing it can be done!
Oh WOW!

That's great to know. Thanks for looking into it for future reference if anyone wants to do this!

I don't know it this was already mentioned but in my 2003 GMC Yukon with the Bose sound system the Door Chime was insanely loud, the options were to keep it this loud or make it louder. The Chime sounds through all the speakers in the car and it is stupid loud.
I absolutely hated that feature in the 2003. All reviews said the only fix was to replace the OEM radio with an aftermarket.

I learned how to avoid the chime most times but it was annoying for certain.

It's SUPER loud!

What I did in my '12 Tahoe, I rewired the rears to also feed the front inputs on the amp.
Now on the tahoe I didn't use any resistors and it's held up fine, but no guarantees on this older headunit. (I maybe trying it before too long)
You lose fader control, but audio quality did not diminish any amount I could tell. Of course you will lose ALL chimes.

The seatbelt would be easy to bypass normally.
The key in apparently has a switch, but you might lose some dome light functionality?
Seems like the only two chimes I've heard so far.. ?

Are you sure it's all speakers?

What I noticed in my tahoe, I could hear just a tiny bit in the back driver side, but I think the amp was blending the channels some amount, whether intentional or just some signal bleed I don't know.. Now with rears to front, no chimes whatsoever!

But in my gmt900 tahoe, no turn signal noise, sounds like the GMT800 still uses a flasher relay.
For the GMT900 I am planning to wire relays to the mirror turn signal that's at either dash end, so that way I'll have stereo turn signals :p

Ordered BCM.. about $215 with shipping.
He said I will need to do a VATS and SRS relearn..

On to the chime issue..

Whoever decided to program this nonsense.. I hate them.

Nice!

Hopefully the chime guy wasn't the same guy that designed the headlights and how easily they come apart on this generation...I'm still looking for that guy, 'cause he serves a cookie!

Just remembered, if you have the LUX amp, class 2 (serial data?) amplifier, the chimes might be generated from the amp, so rewiring radio output may not work for you..

My 2006 denali has all the door lock settings in the settings menu in the DIC within the cluster. I have them set to lock in gear and unlock when the truck goes in park. I know they can also be set not to unlock until the key comes out of the ignition and a few other ways. Yours doesn’t have those settings?

I don't want them to lock by themselves at all. No option for that in '05, but I heard earlier models did have it.

I'm not sure if there was an updated calibration or if ewalts is doing something custom.. But not having to buy a programmer and subscribe to gm sps is probably close in $$$ but more time to get it done. (assuming there is an updated calibration)

99-02 trucks (00-02 SUVs) don't have that cluster type, so no. Well, at least not my 99 Silverado doesn't have that option, not sure if it was added on the 00-02 SUVs? 99-02 clusters have that message center and the odometer only shows gear selections and mileage:

I'm not sure if the early 03+ SUV models have that door option? I think that's what @mikez71 was asking on post #41?

My 06 suburban does have those options on the cluster...

Possible some early ones have a key/button press schedule to make it work..
But I was under the impression '03 and '04 have a DIC option..

I get seriously annoyed by the same things in my '12 model.. Like lack of an A-pillar grab handle..
Since I added one to my '12 Tahoe, I use it ALL the time..
Stepping into the Suburban, I feel like I might lose balance and fall..
"Help! I've fallen, and I can't get into my truck!"

I have this selection in the DIC, too, and have a couple of modes to turn off and on. I'd be surprised if the '05 doesn't have it. Maybe the cluster was changed?

I can set WHEN they lock/unlock, but cannot disable the auto-lock completely.

Same with my '12 tahoe...
(until I purchased Autosync w/BCM programming..)
