so I scored a very very cheap console for my ssv but it’s light grey (the rest of the interior is black/ebony).

Has anybody had any success with any sort of interior plastic paint? I found lid fabric for $25 on eBay which seems easy enough but I think the different color plastic would bother me pretty quickly.

If you have an body shop supply store local, they can likely mix the exact interior color using the GM color code found on the option label.

+1 on SEM Color Coat. It's a spray that bonds much better than regular spray paint.

Look at Landau Black (#15013), Satin Black (#15243) or maybe even Gloss Black (#15233). Or, it may take one of the Blacks topped with a Gloss Clear (#13003), Satin Gloss Clear (#13013) or Low Luster Clear (#13023) to match as closely as possible. Personally, I only have experience with Landau Black. It was a few years back, but I wanna say it was more of a dark gray.

You can spray vinyl, cloth and leather with it. Even spray carpet and work it in with a toothbrush if you need to color a spot, such as to cover a stain or bleach spill.

Nice looking console.
Where'd you find it?
All the black ones I've found want my first born, its crazy how much they sell for.
Has anyone ever have any problems with the colors running or rubbing off after applied?

That’s just the color I want it to be, not mine. The one I scored for real cheap is titanium color (basically light grey). Got it on Craigslist for $90

Ooh ok gotcha. Damn, $90 you got a smokin deal. Is it in good condition?

Lookin forward to your updates, as I am curious how the paint holds up.
Last thing I want is for it to run or rub off.
I even thought of covering it, but am not really sure how to go about doing it and it still look good haha.

I don’t have any pics but yea it’s in good condition. Came out of something with Bose as it has the subwoofer under it and rear controls I’ll probably sell since I don’t have a need for it. I’ll for sure post up my results

Dude; look up autoleatherdye.com and drop them an email that explains what you want to do and they will set you up with some black dye that you can apply and it will be badass. It won’t peel, chip, or flake. And you can probably get all you need for around $50! Good luck, and in my personal opinion I would not paint another interior apiece again after finding out about this stuff.

I’ll just quote the one post lol,
It’s plastic and nothing on their site says it works on plastic. Everything they sell is for leather and vinyl upholstery.

I don’t know why it posted that so many times ! It doesn’t let you erase anything on here either. Dude I’m telling you, write them an email and talk to someone down there. I’ve been thru all of this shitba bunch of times and I wouldn’t be telling you this if I didn’t know.

SEM or any of the other spray paint types suck I don’t care what anyone say or how good you clean and prep it first it is goin to scratch and look like shit if it’s on something that gets touched. I have redone the one in my Silverado work truck a handful of times!

I’m going to message them tomorrow and ship off a sample piece of my leather so they can color match it. I still need to finish The rear cargo plastics on my. I gave up on it for a while. Damn thing cost me way to much money. Good luck or your project, I hope you get it done and all works out well!
