I agree 100% with the OP assessment.

I just got back from driving the 25 Expedition with the all new wrap around screen and oval steering wheel.
I don't think its even close to the build quality and materials of our Tahoe High Country's.
The Expedition just sounds and feels cheap, thats build quality.
Ford cant replicate the curb appeal of the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade period.

I've always thought that Ford is better at two things, #1, Seats and #2, Seats.
Its subjective I guess because I would argue the opposite. I just left a 21 Explorer ST with massaging A/C & Heated seats and IMHO I feel the Tahoe HC seats are more comfortable.

I feel like Ford offers more dollar for dollar on the interior, including things like audio system. GM exterior is nicer though, I will admit.

Definitely subjective and maybe for those two it is true. I was speaking broadly across many models. I've never been nearly as comfortable in any Chevy as I have our old 2018 escape. Even the 1991 "couch on wheels" Caprice Wagon.
Escape is a smaller car and I'm a large human, but it has fit me better than any car I've driven.
Glad to see you left the dark side though!

Funny you should mention.
I'm in interiors testing for a living. My company makes interior components for many manufacturers, and I work in the lab that proves they meet their specs.

Without going into detail and getting in legal trouble, it's my opinion that Ford is hands down better on the interior, across the model range.

Exterior, meh, is all about your preferences, has little impact on comfort, but with some configuration and color exceptions IMO the T1 is a little lacking. They look like a lumbering ox, awkwardly navigating the corner like it's never turned before...a radical departure from the timeless grace and elegance of the K2.

Not that Expedition is particularly good looking.

HaHa!
I don’t think they are that bad but seems like the Ford Expedition is in a different class of ride and performance but it’s definitely less expensive option for a large SUV.
While the high end expedition may be a little less to purchase than a denali or high end burb, its only by 8-10k at most. And thats mainly because gm dosnt discount much because, well, they sell at full price so they dont have to discount. If they did, they would cost the same. And when you are spending damn near 90k (or 100+ in some trims), 8k isnt much of a difference in the big scheme of things.

Also…the expedition still looks kinda like a few decade old vehicle. Update it already !

Lumbering Ox?
Have you driven a Tahoe or Yukon with 22” wheels, magnetic ride and air suspension? Even though the stock tires are marginal, the suspension and handling of the new GM shorty and extended is the best body on frame I have ever driven.

Compared to the Expedition Platinum the GM version has way less body roll in turns and rides better over rougher worn roads. Many independent reviews have commented on the handling and the decibel reading in the GM is lower at highway speeds.

My Tahoe is a 2024 and I rented the same year Expedition similar trim level and the ride for driver and passenger was noticeably smoother in the GM. My wife as passenger is very picky with respect to smooth quiet ride, vibration and rattling. She had complained about the Expedition.

The main difference was the seats in the Ford were softer and they might feel better for those who like more of a softer seat. Personally I prefer the firmer seat on the Tahoe and I think firm lasts longer than soft as you put on the miles. I prefer a firmer sofa also as the ones you sink into are not good for the spine and harder to get out of. But that is purely personal preference.

I'm just poking fun at the T1's exterior looks vs the K2, which was clearly the pinnacle of suv design! :hahano:
I realize I mentioned cornering but that wasn't supposed to be a comment on handling, just trying to crack a joke, oops! Sorry to hijack your thread.
There is a lot of preference on seat or sofa, due to back problems I am swayed by lumbar support, which usually means firmer. As far as longevity goes, firmer may generally last longer, but the foam composition ("quality") is the key.
Your wife sounds like a discerning individual!

I've looked at all of them in a roundabout way ... currently own a 24 Navigator L. People have strong opinions on Brand. Here's what I find as far as tangible differences.

Ford Product:

Better seats in general, easier to get a second row bench in all trims, better for car seats and 3rd row entry due to the way the seats pivot, more reliable engine and slightly better fuel economy (except for diesel), similar seating space to short Tahoe/Yukon (maybe a slightly more comfy 3rd row in short wheelbase and ability to recline rear seat).

GM Product:

Rides better with availability of air suspension, long wheelbase has noticeably more cargo room behind third row vs Ford, availability of V-8 for those who want one, availability of RSES for those who want that, better infotainment, more roads mapped for SuperCruise than comparable Ford product, availability of diesel.

I really don’t understand why GM can’t get their ish together with seats. They really suck compared to many other brands.
