Bose speaker replacement

I have been lurking here for a while, and searched through tons of posts, but haven't found anything definitive.

Does anyone have a recommended speaker to replace the door speakers. 2013 yukon denali. They are blown. I have an aftermarket h/u but don't really want to get an amp, and rewire all the speakers and all that.

BUT I believe the bose speakers are an uncommon impedance, and replacing them with aftermarket while still using the bose amp system will cause issues.

Welcome from Virginia Jay. I’m no audio guru but some will chime in soon. Did they recently blow or it happened when the new HU was put in? If they were good for a while why not go back with the same thing?

I would just buy some good used oem bose speakers off of ebay or the junk yard then.

Well I've owned it about 6 months, and they have slowly degraded to crackling and distorting once the volume gets to about 20 on my alpine h/u. The head unit went in about 4 months ago. Really it's the rear door speakers that are the worst, but i figure if I'm gonna tear it apart to do all 4 of the door speakers. My eventual plan and main reason for keeping the bose amp is keeping the stock 6.5" sub for mid base as I think it sounds pretty decent, and then supplementing it with a 10-12" in a custom box between the 2nd row captain chairs. The stock sub can help bridge the gap from the door mids to the low freq 10".

I can either keep or replace the pillar tweeters, but they are fine as is so hoping to get a component speaker for the front doors, and possibly coax for the rear doors. Whatever works in those places without volume differences due to off impedences.

Also I'd be totally fine with replacing them with stock replacements if their reasonably priced and easy to get. Don't really want used salvage yard speakers.

If I understand you correctly, you have an aftermarket head unit, which you have connected to the low level inputs of the existing OEM Bose power amp. Is that correct? You are correct that Bose speakers have a different impedance (~2 ohms) than most aftermarket speakers (4 ohms).

Regarding you plans to install a sub between the second row captain's chairs, that is exactly what I did. I had a custom, downward-firing sealed box fabricated, and I installed a 10" AudioMobile sub in it. You cannot hear me coming 2 blocks away (which is perfectly fine with me), but the sound inside the truck is loud, tight and clean. See the photo below, and the dog hair is from one of my 90+lb white shepherds, who likes to sit on the sub box, looking over my shoulder, as we cruise down the road. It also serves as a table for folks sitting in the second row, though I rarely have more than 2 people and 2 dogs in the truck on any trip.

I also removed the entire Bose system, as I prefer a different sound than what Bose delivers. I believe that I still have the 4 door and 2 post Bose speakers, and as I recall, they all worked, prior to me removing them. You can have them for free, if you are willing to pay postage. If you wish to pursue this, contact me through a 'Conversation' in this Forum's apps, and I'll go find them.

Yes Alpine touchscreen using metra harness and maestro kept all stock features intact. That is AWESOME on the sub. Yes I'm going to build a custom enclosure, and prob be a bit taller than yours with the top fitting between the arm rests, and incorporate some cup holders since the fold down ones will be blocked. Ultimately it will look similar to the front row console. Leather wrapped and all, finding a matching fabric will be tough. Cocoa/cashmere interior here.

I will def hit you up for your speakers. In the end enough people will probably convince me to go aftermarket speakers and amp for all but the sub...

I believe the front door speakers are 15905042 and the rear door speakers are 15186669. They are uncommon as we've talked about on here before many times.

Worst case get all 4 new and hopefully not blow them again for a while. I don't particularly blast the stereo too loud, but obviously blew the stockers sometime between when I got the truck and now tho.

With the factory amps, the louder you turn it up, the more bass they pull to protect the speakers. Just saw Joe's post, definitely take him up on that offer! He's a good man.

BTW I just now put 2+2 together. I think the rear ones shot craps first because right after I bought it and drove in rain realized both rear doors were sloshing with water, and thanks to this site learned to cleanout the holes in the bottom of the door(plugged with crud). And as low as the speakers are probably got wet and finished off what I assume are paper cones, or fried them playing when they were wet.

I had the infinity kappas in my old Sierra that had the bose, they are a 2ohm speaker. They sounded great with an aftermarket headunit, super loud and clear. When I put the stock headunit back in for various reasons ( when first one was stolen, when i traded in truck ) they sounded even better with the factory one. Sounded just as good as my aftermarket with a 10" sub. I know infinity isnt the most expensive or probably even the best anymore but I certainly liked them

I also went with Infinity speakers with the Bose amp and Kenwood HU it sounds great. I also have a down firing box between the 2nd row buckets. 12" Kicker Comp pushed by a Hi Fonics Brutus 600w mono block.

I had to pull the rear door panel off to replace the door handle and the rear speaker was listed as 3.8 ohms. I have 12 denali.

I wanted to replace speakers but with everything I read, speakers are fine its the amp and sub that needs upgraded.

any suggestions on amp? I want a little more clarity and a touch more bass.

I am thinking of replacing center dash speaker and the speakers in A pillar as well.

awesome @Joseph Garcia is gonna send me his old stockers. hopefully that will suffice and help fight off the urge to spend a bunch of money and replace the whole system with aftermarket.
