I went to Auto Zone today, bought a oil filter and five quart container of oil, for an oil change. After changing the filter and draining the oil, I started poring the “new” oil in and noticed it was black. I instantly stopped and put some of it into a glass to look at it. Instead of being a normal golden color that you cold see through it was black like oil from a diesel engine.

I took it back to Auto Zone and they said they were sorry and the guy said he would give me another one off the shelf. I said, nothing personal , but I just don’t trust you guys.

So then the manager has the brass to say, I can’t understand why you wouldn’t trust us. Wow.

So watch yourself around Auto Zone.

They refunded me the cash and I went down the street to O’reilly’s and found fresh oil.

some ass probably returned it, a redshirt took it and put it back on the shelf without checkin.

people were having problems buying tv's from walmart and gettin home to find a concrete cinder block in the box...

gotta watch any retail store that pays its employees poorly. the employees dont give a shit and the customers suffer, gotta love the low prices though eh?

HaHa hate AutoZone. Always go to Kragen for my stuff, most of the guys and girls know me already. But I think I will be going to Wal-Mart for my oil next go around seeing how cheap it is.

Ditto. Was the foil seal punctured?

I've returned stuff at Kragen and they always make sure the seal has not been punctured or the cap hasn't been twisted off. Wouldn't let me return a quart of PS fluid because the cap was semi twisted off one time.

Pennzoil doesn’t use the foil on the big bottles. Just the cap with the ring that breaks loose when opened. I did not check it when I bought it. I already had the filter in one hand and just pulled the big bottle out of the display.

The manager did not seem to be too surprised. He did not hesitate to refund the money.

For sure I will check the ring on the cap from now on. :emotions122:

I think I may try that next time! haha. I always buy my oil and filter from Wal Mart. I pay right around $24 for Mobil 1 and an AC Delco filter whereas at Advanced Auto Parts it is closer to $30. Screw that.

Holy shit! That is an expensive oil change haha. What do you use?

HaHa

Forgot to mention it is 5W-30 Synthetic, oil change every 4000K miles. Did the math, comes to the same price if I were to do dino oil every 3000K miles.

I used to buy my oil at Auto Zone, and sometimes I still do, but I've found that Costco now sells 6 quarts Mobile One Full Synthetic for $35.00

wal-mart is usually the cheapest on my high milage valvoline.

i will say that walmart doesn't have the best prices on oil. we kill them on most of it, but of course menards doesn't stock valvoline...
