Anyone Use A Car Lift?

Been thinking awhile now about exchanging the trusty jack and stands with an auto lift such as this:

Anyone use something like this and do you have recommendations? I like the fact that these models have an open center and leaves the sides open.

That looks nice (Probably wouldn’t need it to go very high). I would also like to use it as a detailing lift as well...

I'd aim for the portable, two-piece one like what Ron mentioned. Clear space in the middle and you can move and store it if you don't want it set up all the time.

Oh yeah....the one I posted definitely is not user friendly in the middle (I was looking at a bunch and simply got confused). Definitely like the ones you guys are mentioning. And at a much more reasonable price too!

Although, I must say, back when I worked in construction-type fields, I made a pretty good fairy or bear, depending on the coworker being razzed at the time.

Just thought I’d share what I decided to:

First and foremost though: The 7000 lb QuickJack is on sale at Home Depot. Probably a good time to buy if you’re considering it. I’ve decided to save my money and do this...

Im going with a Daytona Jack from Harbor Freight ($299). Max lift height is 24” (same as the QuickJack with SUV adapter and pin) and apparently it works quickly.

I’ve already ordered up Esco 3 ton Jacks (max height is 21.5” and it’s powder coated). ($220 set of 4)

My current Jack and stands barely lift the tires off the ground, so this will help tremendously.


If I decide I need more lift in the future I’ve got a plan to construct bases out of 6x6’s and plywood. If I do that I’ll get to a max height of 27.75” which is higher than the quickjack (I doubt I’ll ever need to do this)....

Would need something similar for the floor Jack as well.

Well, as nice as a QuickJack would be I decided to save up for customizing the truck!

Floor Jack and 4 stands: $520
Max Height: 21.5” (27.5” with base)

Quickjack: $1200 after sale price.
SUV adapter: $ 200 after sale price.
Max Height: 24”

Sounds like a plan. I thought about the QuickJack too but decided to just use the 4 jack stands and that works great for me.

Well, at least he had a big rock behind the tire to keep it from rolling.

Anyone else notice that he looks to be welding near the gas tank as well?

Didn’t HF just have a recall on their Jack Stands? I’m sure it wasn’t those.

I was so surprised at the pic itself that I did not even notice the rock or the welding. The person shooting the pic had to have been so dumfounded by what they were seeing that they did not know what to say about it.
