99 escalade is in project mode

So i figured i should start a thread about the engine woes ive been having.. im not going to get into great detail about them as most are pretty common in these trucks.. Water pump went out, spider assembly fried, miss fire after miss fire even some that threw no codes, crank relearn and correlation code, and lastly leaking intake gaskets.. so i went to replace the gaskets figured while i was in there i would just check the heads since i know the PO was a dumbass and didnt keep up on it..
Lets play a game called wheres waldo..

so both heads are cracked..

this is my favorite person this week. because he brought me this:

so im dropping in a new crate motor from jegs. i will take tons of pictures of me unwrapping this thing.. it will be about a week before i drop it in due to waiting on a few more parts...

He just got a drop in stock L31 replacement. Jegs sells them for about $1800. However it is all new components no remanufactured parts used. The dealer where I lived in Cali stocks almost a dozen of them normally. They say customers who can't really do a new car and really like the old one just get the vehicle reblocked and are very happy that way. the dealer wants about $300 more plus the install if they do it.

never get to really drool over a stock engine replacement very often so my drool is in full flow.

wow didnt think so many people would be interested in this.. And sun is correct it is just a oem "NEW" engine.. If anyone is interested my total shipped to my door was $2,072.98, no core return or charge. And i ordered it Wednesday 18, 2012 and received it the following Wednesday 25.. RL is an awesome shipping company, i got a tracking number and a phone call tuesday saying it was to be delivered wednesday between 10 and 3.. guy called me when he was 1hour out and was in front of my house at 2:55..
So is there any thing you guys would like picture(s) of?

Update: i got my new flywheel in today, wasnt supposed to be here till monday.. that was the last thing i was waiting on before i could drop in the motor... with that said i dont get my cherry picker till sunday so...... expect the unwrapping then

CJ, please paint it, if you dont the heads will rust very fast in that salty climate your in.
Use some high temp header paint on the heads and rustoleum on the block.
I dont reccomend black as it hides oil leaks. especialy when new and shiny.

I agree, but it should be pimp purple polka dots on a bright neon green base coat.



But seriously, I think having a red or maroon color would look pretty sick.

Why not a silver/metal color. Still get the protection and it's nothing crazy when you look under the hood.

thats why i really like the clear idea. not crazy and some of the areas that are bare metal will still look good.
