Im 71 When I was younger I owned many new cars and I mean a lot of them. Thats why Im not retired now LOL money went up in smoke--tire smoke. Had a 69 transam (see phot) 69 Z28 69 SS, 72 gmc step 85 chev step Buicks, caddys, mopar cuda, chevelle, Ford F350 long bed crewcab superduty, cavalier, list goes on. As a younger guy I built my own engines. In those days we were happy to get 1 horse per cubic inch out of back yard builts. I can measure rod bolt stretch with my teeth!
Been a mortgage broker, real estate broker, bakery owner, radio DJ, wonderbread route driver, bank underwriter, about 10 more. I stopped buying new cars in 1985 when I got a beautiful 85 Chev cheyenne 4x4 short bed which I never should have sold ten years ago. Ive always wanted to have control over every nut and bolt--not the computerized money suckers of each newer year. Of all Ive owned (Except the 69 TA) my favorite was my 1998 cavalier with bone base. Crank windows, manual everything. 36 MPG. Bought for 700 at insurance auctio Ive put about 200 into it for 168,000 miles. Its dead now in my driveway--my dog hit the lever and threw it into reverse going 65 mph. Im saying all this because Ive kept myself a dinosaur. Newest vehicle Ive had since 1990 was a 2001 Superduty Ford .3 diesel--still have it at 220,000 miles and HOLY CATS you guys think these things have probems and keep you on your toes? We diesel owners LIVE in the dieselstop site. So last week my wife got tired of her 2009 impala with 235,000 on it with NO REPAIRS! and I grabbed this 2012 absolutely spotless tahoe with 119,000 one owner miles all serviced from original selling dealer. A auction dealer friend of mines always told me these were great engines. I was so happy. Then I started reading the manual and found all the danged electronic garbage I dont want like the stable tracking but MOST OF ALL the 4 cyl cutout feature and the potential problems. The more I read about that, the more other problems I see discussed. DANG I should have bought a 1985 suburban, painted it, re did the moving parts and stuffed an LS1 in it and Id have a new truck for 10 grand. So you can see Im a talker and I never want to stop learning so I hope all you wont get sick of me. Being 71, you probably wont be subjected to me for too long! If any of you have pontiac firebird problems Im yer guy. I have 7 of them 95 to 02 Marvin in Tigard OR
