I have owned my Yukon for almost a year...... I have NEVER applied the 4wd.
I'm an idiot about 4wd.
Uh... help..... Coach me on what to do.....

Should I check fluids first? ( There are no leaks )

Drive on some dirt road and just hit 4wd and see what happens? ( And how much time )

I don't have a clue to what is the best "first test".

Then, how often should you use it, if you don't need it ?

i use mine in snow only. hit the 4 hi button and off i go.

you can tell its working if your on dry pavement when turning it wont turn as well. 4 low is a creeper gear pretty much, it will bang through the gears pretty fast, avoid turning on dry ground in 4 low.

and everything is already turning full time. so it either works or it dont.

dont go into 4 low moving, put it in N and wait to hear a thud, then put it in gear.

4 hi you can shift in and out of moving.
