I'm no car audio expert so keep that in mind lol but I did however install this mod on my Yukon. As far as bleed over I know what you mean. When I switch over to XM preview you can still here XM audio until you plug in your ipod/phone/mp3 and then it takes over. Not sure how it works but it does lol . I've never had any issues with background noise while using my phone for music either. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great tip. Now I have the music I want instead of whatever's on the FM!

Will this work if you have Bose head unit with nav and 6 CD changer without losing anything?

Yes,

I don't have the navi but I have the 6 disk and works great for me. You can have the xm on any channel and it cuts the audio for whatever you are playing

aux only works with DVD on

So, I did this mod the other day. I cut the wires to the xm cause i'll never use it. I couldn't get the aux to work even though I kept checking the wires and they seemed correct. So, I was about to give up and wanted to make sure my dvd sound still worked. With the DVD player on the aux works. I also hear phone not available when ever I get in the car. So, it isn't too big of deal to just turn on the DVD. Does anyone know what I did wrong, how to fix it or just live with it. Haven't read of this issue on any threads.

Does this eliminate XM?

Any thoughts on the aux only working if dvd is on? I cut the wires at the xm behind the glove box.

Mine only worked when it was plugged into the XM box and spliced into the 3 wires.

And as far as the bleed over problem for the ones who mentioned it. If you turn your XM to channel 0 which is your radio ID number there is no sound coming from that channel which will allow now bleed over

Well guys here it is, i ended up doing things a little different since i didnt have a soldering gun and didnt feel like messing with loose 3.5 Stereo Adapter or drilling anywhere to adapt this 3.5 jack, the outcome came out good when not in use i simple put the auxiliary cable in the glove compartment here are a few pictures

Looks like I bought a mono plug from radio shack. I have purchased the correct plug locally and will resolder the lead wires on.

I just tried this this evening was able to tap the wires just fine ground to "Lower black/white" and then the other two were tapped at Brown/white and Green/white at the xm harness behind the glove box and I get nothing. It doesn't even cut out Xm when i plug a jack into the port. double checked my wiring and since i used the same plug in the OP's post. I'll have to check it again tmw maybe re tap it or something, it just doesn't make sense.

So i got thinking about it, since i don't really care about that switch can i just use:

Yeah if you want to waste $43 for what can be done for free.

If you hear Xm radio, turn the dial counter-clockwise on the selector knob to get to XM RADIO ID# This is the only XM channel with no existing XM audio. BAsically this mod taps into this "quiet" channel and ports the audio through.

If you still don't have audio from your phone/device make sure the volume is up on the phone/device as well.

Otherwise, you did something wrong.

So, bringing this back...

I have XM but will not be renewing my subscription. Will this mod still work if I tap into the XM wires as recommended and then cut them to remove the XM box?

You have to leave the box or you will get errors but you don't need a current subscription to make it work.
