My 2016 cream puff Tahoe got T-***** by some Jack a$$, that attached plates with no insurance. Still waiting for police report. I don’t have collision insurance, I got an estimate at a body shop 10800.00, driver side door and front fender, also front wheel got some damage. He had given me his insurance company. But turns out it was expired. Totally his fault. If I get stuck having to fixing it myself, was thinking of buying a door and front fender off eBay from a Tahoe wrecked on passenger side. Paint code matches summit white. I already got a front end alignment, no damage to steering components. I can deal with scuffed up rim for now because I want to switch to 20” rims with some more sidewall for a smoother ride. I think I can handle replacing door and fender, just hoping summit white matches my summit white Tahoe then I don’t have to deal with body shop painting. Lesson learned I will be getting collision insurance for now on, in the sunny state of Florida, lots of jack a$$es driving around here recklessly it seems, racing from stoplight to stoplight. Then I will have to bring him to small claims court to try to recoup money spent for repairs. The state of Florida has a $8000 limit, but it might be hard to get blood from a stone. Anyone have a similar experience with dealing with uninsured drivers

Once upon a time I had a fairly nice vehicle, for years I paid for full coverage, then one day I decided that insurance is a bit high, I will just take the minimum coverage. 3 weeks later, totaled........
since then, I take the full coverage and $1000.00 deductible. It's cheaper than a replacement vehicle
using the higher deductible lowers my monthly cost a smidge..
good luck getting blood from a rock, at least yours can be mostly fixed yourself, check with local wheel repair places that wheel can be fixed for probably $200, likely a bit less the damaged insert can be found on ebay for cheap.
used wheels run $400-1200 (each)

My 2015 Tahoe was hit by uninsured driver. Your policy should have “uninsured coverage”? That’s mandatory in NJ.

The truck was repaired using the uninsured coverage and they tried to collect from the other driver. However he never paid them so that’s that…..

Thanks for the info. I just called geico and they said I do have that coverage. Wft I have already talked to them 5 or 6 times and they never mentioned that. Figures they kept their mouth shut till I brought it up,
Hopefully my Tahoe will be on the road to recovery
