    AC Delco Brake Hoses

I ordered AC Delco brake hoses from Amazon. They came in an AC Delco box but the hoses had Sonsun or something like that. I read the comments and several folks had received the same. I re-ordered AC Delco hoses from Rock Auto and am waiting for them. In the meantime I read online Rock Auto was...

Oil Pressure Gauge Pegged to 80 with key on/ engine off. All the way to zero when key off

Had just changed my oil, went for a drive and thought I over-filled it. Just wanted to share that when deciding between the stepper motor or oil sending switch, I learned if the gauge goes to 80 when keyed on and all the way to zero when off, look for the oil switch. If 80 when keyed then...

    DFW to PCB Road Trip

I am completely sold on my 2006 Tahoe Z71. I bought it in January just to have to pull the boat and use on weekends. Well, we ended up driving 13 hours from Dallas to Panama City Beach and 13 hours back, stopping halfway for the night in Louisiana. We averaged 70-75mph the whole time and got...

    Thoughts on Rotella oil

I picked up my '06 with about 170k on the engine in January and I only use it on weekends. About ready for my first oil change. Records indicate previous owner was using conventional oil. I have a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II with 180k that LOVES Rotella 15w 40 (T5). Thoughts on Rotella for...

Can I add Bluetooth to OEM Stereo?

Searched the threads but no luck. I just want to connect my iPhone to the stereo speakers to have bluetooth audio for phone calls. In another car I have an AUX input where I can connect an aftermarket bluetooth. I don't want to replace the head unit, nor really care for the FM band Bluetooth...

Anyone ever remove/replace the whole rear evaporator housing?

For my broken blend door, I attempted to unclip the housing and pry it open to access the blend door. Could not make that happen. It appears that there are two nuts beneath the truck and then two screws inside the cab securing it to the sidewall. Once I pull out the evaporator from the housing...

Rear A/C Actuator - The shaft it controls fell inside

My rear A/C was only blowing hot, so I removed the actuator that controls the temperature to inspect it. I then manually turned the little plastic shaft that sticks out of the assembly to see if I could manually switch the air to cold. In the process the plastic piece pushed inward and dropped...

    Anti-rattle pad?

What is this? Found it in the bottom of the passenger door inside the front bottom. The driver side one was worn to barely anything. What is it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone use a micro-torch for bolt removal?

When I did my brakes not long ago I used loc-tite red on the big bolts. Was thinking if I was ever traveling and needed to get a bolt off with red, I'd need some heat. At home I used a heat gun, don't have a bottle torch. Was thinking of getting a small one to keep in the tool box. Anyone ever...

    Heater core T-fitting

With the hood open and looking at the firewall, there are two heater core T-fittings: one on the left and one on the right. The left has been replaced, the right has not. I want to replace the T-fitting on the right. Are they identical parts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Should I replace fuel pump pro-actively?

2006 5.3 with 180k. Stepper motor for fuel gauge went out so I replaced it. Planning a road trip from DFW to Panama City Beach, Fl in June (1600 miles round trip). I've had the truck 2 months, picked it up from a dealer, so I have 6 months, 6,000 miles powertrain warranty. I don't want to be...

    Fuel gauge stepper motor?

Gauge pegged to 4 oclock, then 6 and then 9. I ordered a stepper motor thinking that's a cheap and easy place to start. Anything else I can check?

Creaking sound from passenger rear coil spring area

Had new tires put on a week ago as well as I added the Bilstein 4600's. Now I am picking up a creaking sound from the area of the rear passenger coil spring. I got under the truck and pushed up on the rear bumper to make the truck go up and down. Sounds like mattress springs. I could not...

Does a replacement engine show accurate hours?

When a dealer replaces an engine with another used engine, are the engine hours carried over? I would think the computer would be reading the actual hours carried over on the engine. After I purchased my 2006 Tahoe with 179,000 on the odometer, the previous owner sent me all his paperwork (the...

How to release spare tire from hoist cable?

Dumb question- I was changing the rear diff fluid and dropped the spare to make room. I could not figure out how to release the cable from the spare. Not wanting to waste a bunch of time, I just pushed the cable and tire to one side. Now I am planning a road trip and need to know how to get the...

LED brake lights and no cruise control

2006 Tahoe. CC was working. I installed LED's then noticed no CC. I read that LEDs pull lower voltage and the computer thinks a brake light is out killing the CC. I'll put back the original bulbs. Does that mean LEDs are not an option or is there a workaround?

    Running light socket source

before heading to the parts yard, any good source for running light sockets? Pulled mine both looked brown and burned on the inside. I don't mind cutting and splicing in replacements. I bought new LED running lights but neither side worked. PO must have just ignored them. Thanks!

    Towing and Road-trip Question

I just bought my 2006 Tahoe Z71 with RWD and about 160k on the engine and 180K on the tranny (PO had dealer replace engine after camshaft bearings wore. Engine was required to have 20k or fewer miles than original engine with 168k at the time. So with 180 on the odometer, I am taking off 20k...
