I am completely sold on my 2006 Tahoe Z71. I bought it in January just to have to pull the boat and use on weekends. Well, we ended up driving 13 hours from Dallas to Panama City Beach and 13 hours back, stopping halfway for the night in Louisiana. We averaged 70-75mph the whole time and got 18mpg. Not one single problem with the truck, even with 180,000 miles.

I just had to give a shout out because being able to do this is awesome. Here is a bullet list of maintenance I did since buying this truck 6 months ago:
Dropped tranny pan, cleaned with new filter and fluid.
Rear diff fluid and seal change.
Front brakes were done a year ago, still good. Rear brake rotors and pads replaced.
New Nitto tires
Oil switched to Rotella for gas engines
New air filter
New K&N shocks all around
I think that covers most of it.
Thorough inspection of radiator hoses, heater hoses and connectors, and all fluids checked. I firmly believe that with proper maintenance and TLC, these trucks are amazing!!!

Few years ago drove my 03 with--at that time--around 270k, from NJ to S. Carolina and back with 0 issues. I averaged 80-85 mph with the ac on the whole time. No idea what my gas mileage was tho. Wssn't terrible. This was when I still had the 4.8 in it.

While I'm on it, for my cracked seats, I got a $6 bottle of matching color acrylic paint from Michael's. Worked great!46fcd547a6bbec766424c7422ad5ae36.jpg9f2f05146090a3c1bce1c3add1e18bd1.jpg

I had many cracks with very ugly yellow showing. I got a handful of white rags from Walmart. I wiped the cracked areas first with denatured alcohol to clean the cracks and surface. Using a Q-tip, I began experimenting with the 3 colors of paint. The middle tube is the "professional" grade for $6, found with the painting supplies at Michael's.

I used the Q-tip like a pen. Dip in paint, fill along crack. I would only let it sit as long as it took to do 2-3 cracks. It does overfill and leave heavy marked lines. I then used a dampened rag to wipe the seat clean. This removes excess off the surface while leaving paint in the crack. You might need 1-2 applications.

Mine came out great. We were going on vacation and would have extended family with us. The cracks were embarrasing. Seats really look great now going on a month of use.
