So this past weekend, we had a little 300 mile trip planned and had 3/4 of a tank. Filled it up with Wawa (convenience chain in the northeast) 91 octane. I got 17 MPGs on the way out. Pretty horrible since we went on a 1700 mile road trip and I average above 20. Decided to fill up with Exxon 93, and the Yukon was much happier. Instantly the on board computer read we were at 21 MPG at 75 MPH. Maybe it was a bad batch of gas or something else. Any other thoughts on that?
Gas is heavily blended now with ethanol up to the max limit possible. Ethanol-rich fuel cuts mileage dramatically. Try Costco fuel, it is cheap for a reason (and not it is not because it is a loss leader). I have measured with an app, 3-4MPG between Costco and Exxon on two different vehicles,
Tahoe being more sensitive to Fuel brand.

Not true, Costco is considered a TOP TIER fuel and has all the additives that a BP, Shell, or any other big name has. Far better fuel than your local quik mart…..

My truck ('22 Tahoe LT w/ luxury package) definitely got lower than advertised gas mileage (12 MPG with mostly city to 15 MPG blended) and it was one of the reasons we decided to walk away from it.... the potentially bigger reason was that we received cash dealer offers ~$4K over MSRP (and traded it in at $3K for a car - netting over $5K with tax savings)

Yes, you see guys posting 20+ mpg with their 5.3 and 6.2's and i don't doubt this happens on a limited basis. But the real reality with a V8 is daily life relegated to the teens MPG and sometime low teens.

I am on a trip at the moment and just came from Susanville, Ca. where I filled up. Went 120 miles into Nv. and stopped at exit 48 to wait for cousin and was down to 3/4 tank. I took the 6.783 gallons amd divided in to the 120 miles and am now getting 17.69 mpg. Best yet on this trip. All my previous work in my build thread is paying off. This is a 2005 Tahoe Z71 with 142082 miles on it.

Not true. I've never been below 17.3 and average 19.2 - 19.5 with the 6.2 - 20.9 with the 5.3
