I ran dual fans with the Jeg's kit for a while with the stock alternator. It's a good idea but you don't have too...

Alright that's all I wanted to know. I'm gonna do this sometime in the next month. Only thing different is I'm gonna stick an LED indicator in mydash so I know when it's on.

I also plan on doing this. I have seen the dual fan setup for an 05 plus on amazon for 150 bucks. Will that bolt right in?

I was going to do that at one point but never got around to finishing it.

Paid a visit to my nearest PickNpull and got me some efans to convert my OOBS vics and in the process I learned somethings I'd like to share. When I researched this mod, I was informed to use the efan from 3.8L equipped Taurus and Sables so I got a couple of those. Then, I ran into a couple T-birds and Cougars with either the 3.8L or 4.6L and noticed these had a similar efan but was a bit bigger assembly, but they have the exact same efan motor, with the exception of riveted motors as opposed to bolted, no big deal. If I'm not mistaken, these are the same as the Mark VIII right? I also grabbed a couple of efans from the latter vics and an additional dual fan setup off a Windstar which actually turned out to be a sweet set up, the assembly is long enough to completely cover the whole radiator in any of my vics and one of the efans is dual speed, the one right beside it is single speed, think this will work nice with an A/C equipped truck :hmm:
So I came home with 3 efans from a Cougar/T-bird, 2 efans from a Taurus/Sable with a cost of 12.99 each. Also got a dual fan assembly off a Windstar for a whopping 19.99 and 4 Volvo 2-speed efan relay assy's at no cost
Now I need the efan temp switches but I would rather not use the Bemer dual temp type, I'm gonna experiment with the single units and use them for one speed and mechanical switch for the second speed, I'll figure it out as I go. One more thing, I found some bosch style 60 amp relays on ebay that are quite cheap, has anyone used these for the efan setup? Do they handle the current draw? Holler...

If you want to have the best results I would suggest you change the coolant temp valve mine open when it hits 90C or 91C so it stays around the 86C ~ 90C if you didn't do that you well not get the result you are hoping for.

OEM T-stat mandates a 195F rating, that's what is in all my horses. After some extensive research on fan switches, I have decided to try a SW500 made by Airtex/Wells and used in 80's/90's GM 2.8L engines. Gonna pick one up after work tonight and begin the mod, I will report results...
