Disabling AFM without the cam and lifter replacement

I never thought I would be asked this by my landlord. He owns a 5.3 powered 2018 Suburban 4x4. No problems but he has heard me talk about AFM problems. I know you can plug a Dongle in to the DLC but is there not a way to program the AFM off and can it be done with an Autel or Foxwell scanner or does that require a special tuner tool and if so....what is the best way to go about that.

Doing an oil change soon and gonna cut the filter open to check for any debris or metal. He loves the truck and wants to keep.

never heard of it being done with a bi directional scanner....can be done pretty easily with hptuners.
if thats all hes ever going to want done, prob just pay someone for a tune. initial cost for mpvi and credits is going to be a couple hundred bux, but after that cost would only be for credits to modify any supported vehicles

mpvi is now $400bux, 4 credits to unlock ecm is another 200bux....turning off afm is a good little introduction to using the software, could be done by someone completely new to hptuners. but like i said, not really worth the initial investment when you can probably find someone local to do it for credits+100bux or something

You could check with Diablo to see if the inTune I3 or other for his model year would be able to turn off AFM. The only time you need to connect to the DLC is when changing the tune or checking parameters. I'm not sure if it does AFM turn-off, though.
