I also was a building inspector……. You gotta ‘em like a hawk !!
( Some roofs leak after a few years during a rain storm…… It’s not due to the roofing materials… It’s due to the installers finish work. )

And "You gotta 'em like a hawk?" What does that mean, to 'em? Trust but verify. Hire a competent contractor and work with them. I haven't seen anything in this thread that gets anywhere close to incompetence -- have you? -- so I think @pwtr02ss has a good handle on the situation.

I’ve seen horizontal 2x4 fire blocking knocked down, instead of the electricians drilling a hole for wires through wood….
I’ve seen condo-sharing walls with sheetrock ONLY behind elect. outlets to ‘simulate’ full sheets of sheetrock between units.
Foundation steel brackets, mounted into concrete foundations, without any nuts used, attached to condo walls ( earthquake mounts)
Wood stair treads nailed without glueing down first…..( anti-squeek )….
Here’s a goody……. Brass roof-edge rain gutters…. NO DOWNSPOUTS … on million dollar homes ( Newport Beach, Ca. )
I was a fixer….. when the superintendents were out golfing during job hours….. I’d get the call…..
Funny stuff like that…...

Here in Florida, I call that a quick car wash…...Also, it just started raining out there. Pop up thunderstorm. Not sure its going to finish up today

In Florida, if you want to pull out a plant, you just pull it….. only sand… no clay dirt..
Also in a rain, the rain run off along the streets, the water is clear due to sand, not brown dirty water.

Guy sent this a min ago. That's 6 loads of 3"-minus. Ended up having to spread the last 4 with the dozer. The only place it rained in my whole county was right there. They're doing another job less than 5 miles away and it didn't even sprinkle there.

More rain. Typical update for me
Finally getting the ball rolling on financing the build. Meeting with the bank Friday
I got my lien waiver (never had a lien but the bank wants one) signed and notarized. Bank wants receipts on work completed so I got all that info. Seeing the total spent was kinda
This ******* rain sucks. I've never wanted a drought in my life, but I'm over it. The last 1.5 years has been the wettest in our counties history in over 50 years.
