I hadn't heard of a American Axle. had to look it up. they do seem to make everything. wouldn't surprise me if they make gears for all kinds of rebrands.

i hate alxe whine. that would drive me nuts. have you tried adding some Lucas? I've had that fix a very slight noise from a gear once.

I only put one Richmond in my car because it was very annoying no matter how I tried to adjust it, I could always hear it.

I have a TruTrac in it also and that dictated the gear oil requirements. I’m sure a lot of the noise is from the poly bushings I put in it as well.

Junkyard run successful. Got a rustish free Hitch. Mine was rusted through the trailer connector. Same Suburban had the white D Pillars so I snagged those to. Should have grabbed the white Spoiler but I'm happy

I really need to find some good body vents (I noticed they were falling apart when I took the d-pillars off when the rest of the truck got painted and GM sucks so they’re discontinued) and a right interior C-pillar trim (fabric is falling off). I’ve had no luck on eBay.

I’m pretty sure AAM has been GM’s manufacturer for a long time, but you never know with GM. They source parts and designs from all over the world. It’s also possible AAM made the gears for Motive. Livernois Motorsports used to sell a 3.70 gear set for the Camaro differential that they commissioned AAM to make (AAM makes the whole Camaro differential) but they never sold it

I work for AAM, We are one of the largest Suppliers for GM and Ford. AAM was actually owned by GM until they broke off into their own entity. My Plant makes the machines the Sungears for the GM and Ford 10 Speeds. We also forge all of Fords Ring Gears as well as forge the rear brake flanges for all GM Full Size Vehicles. Also make some Harley Davison and BMW stuff as well. There's 80 Plants world wide so AAM is a large OEM Manufacture.

Did you have extra material to trim back on the inner section of the door panel of your fender-flair kit?

Untitled 3.jpg

On my door piece there seems to be a lot of material overhang. Did you just leave what yours came with, or trim it back to match the door contour, and thin it out?

Mine actually Flew off..due to the tape on the flare not sticking. Those missing pieces are from hitting the pavement.
I would recommend stripping off that tape and I used 4 layers of 3M VHB tape and adhesion Promoter on both the flare and door.
Also when putting them on dont press the overhang right onto the door or it will hit the inside weather stripping and pop it off.

I know the Esky is different, but they make them for those too.View attachment 469988View attachment 469989

I guess you talked me into it. I’m nervous about not having physical AC buttons and it being some no-name Chinese stuff, but if it works as described, it’ll be nice for this vehicle. Maybe I’ll do the JVC in my 08 since it never gets driven on trips any more and sound quality would be the top desire there.

Didnt take any pics due to impending doom of severe weather. But got the rear bumper off and new to me Junkyard Trailer hitch installed. Bedlined everything behind the bumper up to the rear axles before the storm came. After seeing the rust behind the bumper I'm 89.34295% sure that the spare tire is seized up in there...so that will be the next project to tackle. Its also the factory spare judging by the date code on the tire so not much faith it would serve its purpose.

I removed the factory spare from the 08 (160k) I bought that had quite a bit of rust on everything and I was sure it wasn’t going to come down without a fight. I’m sure it had never been lowered either. Surprisingly it cranked right down with no issues. The tire itself is dry rotted and wont hold air and the rim is ugly and rusted so it’s worthless. However with no other spare to take its place, I just put it back up there since I didn’t want to deal with disposing of it. Hope yours comes down easily as well, sir. Wishing you the best luck. :)

I would think bed-liner is just going to trap the rust/corrosion, and make it worse over time.

You need to cover it with something that encapsulates & converts the rust. Or, just knock off the majority of the rust with a wire wheel/brush/whatever and spray it down with Fluid Film or WoolWax to stop the rust from spreading by choking off the oxygen.

Plan is to wire wheel the badspots and rust convert + Prime it then bedline it..Honestly the truck isnt worth that much time trying to restore. Its a towpig and winter rig. So I just want to slow it down a bit.

Passenger wheel bearing went out at ~100k
Driver side lived 2x longer 208k
Got skf tapered roller bearings

Only installed the driver side so I can daily it again. Also trying to buy a toy hauler this weekend and need it ready to tow.

Then I'm going to replace the passenger side soon so I know they're both good to go.
And hold onto the passenger and swap it back in to get me by at some point if needed...so I don't get stranded waiting on good parts like I just did.
