Quick update on Motorad 174 thermostat. Temps not staying at 188 with heavier driving.
Yesterday in 100 degree heat I was steady at 203 for awhile on the freeway.
Today while mid 90's, I was hovering between 190-195 a lot in city.

Is that just normal operating temp under load?
Guess it's working a bit harder on the freeway, heating up despite the airflow.

I thought I could maintain cooler temps, but maybe it was cooler weather at the time...
Or I have some other issue..

Try some water wetter.

Ha that aint carnage… go back to early July on here and see real carnage on mine….so much metal on the secondary magnet ….to the point that i swear the rear of the truck lifted when my daughter told me it was making a ‘weird noise’ and i took it for a ride…. Seriously tho i feel like all ive read in here for the past few months was about rears blowing up…. Must be the vax…. ;)

I've been contemplating a phone mount for a while. Between the hoards of transplants clogging our roads, and my job change, I spend about 40 minutes driving each way to work, and have to use GPS to avoid congestion. SC just passed a hands-free law. So that was the last straw. I wasn't happy with options I saw. They either mounted the phone too low, put it in front of the windshield, or blocked a vent. So I made my own from some 14 gauge stainless steel I had leftover from another project. I used CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) to work out the shape. Here it is roughed out:

It uses one of the dash mounting holes and an unused hole back inside the dash structure. Final shape prepped for paint:

Installed with 17mm ball mount attached:

This is exactly what I wanted, well inside my field of view, above the DIC, not blocking a vent, and not blocking my view through the windshield. The shifter blocks it in Park, but not while driving, which is more important. I've only driven with it a little so far. It does vibrate some on rough patches. But it's pretty solid compared to the suction cup mount my wife has in her car. The Chiwanese phone cradle even matches the matte silver and carbon fiber theme of my Yukon. We'll see how we'll it works on Monday.
Did the same thing for my commuter honda… made my own holder….so much more satisfying…
I ferget where in SC are you? Any where near conway/myrtle?

that does seem a bit odd, unless you're under load towing or wot I would expect just cruise speed and large radiator to cool down to close temp on the highway more so than around town.

only side note would be if around town the ac high side temp is running the fans max speed to keep pressure in check, but on the interstate ac doesn't need the fans, the fans then revert to the coolent temp table and it's just not running the fans on max till a higher temp?

mine is an odd ball 3 speed fans and stock stat. so really worth comparing

That has been happening my A/C fan kicks on high, and stays on for awhile after turning AC off.
I was a little more on the throttle on the highway, and it was hotter. I'll take a few datalogs and check further.
I am also missing the flaps on radiator sides...

some of us have made some out of those democrack signs that get posted on the side of the road around town, easy to cut and zip tie in place

Replaced the front passenger, outside door handle yesterday.
It was a PIA because I bought a cheap Amazon one.
Went with that one because it would arrive faster than the other ones and the dealer wanted over $100 for the handle.
Had to do a little filing to adjust how the handle fit into the door openings.
At first, it did not sit flush to the door on the front, pivot side.
Had to remove a little material from the plastic to get it to sit just right.
Broke a few door panel retention clips that I will have to order.

But, it's done and the door works as it should again.
Going to order a complete set of handles to have on hand when the others break, which is only a matter of time, it seems.

Can confirm these 'Rexka' door clips work well for the white clips..
Popped a door panel off that had them and the clips did not break or rip out of the plastic.
I believe they are available on amazon for less...

Then I went to Amazon and bought 'Xislet' brand. The clip may work, but looks slightly different, so I did not try.

Ordered the set of clips.
I know I will be taking off the other door panels at one point or another so I will have them on the shelf and ready to go.

Not sure which ones you bought but these fit my truck perfect. I disassembled and painted all 4 and have had them own my truck for a few weeks. I’m very happy with them, in case you were looking for a better fit.
