Crutchfield has third party speaker brackets for the doors, so standard speakers can be used. Scosche is one mfr.

Everyone I know that "upgraded" their speakers were disappointed. It's hard to beat Bose.
that's because of the ohm's, if some speakers are 2.8 and some are 3.6 and you throw all 4's in there it's not going to sound nice.
then it becomes "more money" to add a amp and then you know a up to date head unit, which requires modules and now your $1k or more deep in it lol

True story. For Bose systems, replace in kind or replace completely with aftermarket. It's all based on your preference (not quality) for reproduced sounds and your budget.
The Power Bass set for GM Bose has the proper ohm for the front doors and i think they sound good.
The rear doors being 3.6 ohm could go either way i think. 4 or 3 ohms. Slightly higher or lower in volume depending on what is installed. I don't really know cuz i have not done it.
Could a guy even notice that slight difference? Doubt i would.

You can, if you listen to music, versus hearing music. The difference is more related to sound clarity (muffled/muddled sound) than just volume, due to the impedance mismatch.
For me as everyone will be different.
I have listened to Yes "Owner of a lonely heart" on good and bad systems. Seems to be my go to for judging what needs to be fixed or sounds good enough.
Also, i don't usually crank it up to high but i do like clear sound.

ditto, learned my lesson many many many years ago when I thought I was being slick by just "upgrading" the speakers what a disappointment.
Even the ANC function cripples the sound because it is constantly creating a opposing sound to give the appearance of no sound. I know that sounds wrong but that's what it does.
it listens for interference and then creates a direct opposing sound. active noise cancellation.
if you add a sub for instance to a system with anc it can cause feedback, like when a microphone is to close to a speaker.
I had to disable it in mine and noticed a more brighter sound instantly.

With the stock tweeters anything over a low volume would crackle and now i can go to a mid volume before they crackle. I've never used the word "crackle" this much before in a paragraph. ANyhoot, i replaced my stock head unit with a pioneer for apple car play and used whatever crutchfield recommended the plug and play interface iDatalink HRN-HRR-GM2 It's a 2012 LTZ Bose , the whole system sounds Great! even friends mention how clear it is but again anything over a mid volume "Crackal!"

The amp should send the entire frequency range to the speakers. If you're using a speaker with a tweeter, then the speaker will have a filter to send the higher range to the tweeter.

Apparently the premium luxury amp has separate outputs for the rear quarter panels..
(Possibly the frequencies are filtered at the amp?)
But for non luxury premium (OP's radio) and standard radios, the D-pillar speakers are spliced into the rear door speakers.
(No doubt full spectrum)
