Bread is a big saver, although there's a bakery in Northern WI I stop at that I grab 10-20 loafs and freeze for sandwiches.

It's a big money saver for anything that won't expire within a few months which in turn means more money for the 2500 and the cycle repeats.
Yep just bought 40lbs of boneless chicken ****** @1.90 and 20lbs of ground beef @3.04 81% which is fine for us, this will be gone in 2-3 months and probably saved at least $80 retail, once in a ,while the beef will go on sale for $1.99 so I'll end up buying another 10lbs or so

Here in the People's Republic of Colorado we're coming up on the deadline to sell eggs ONLY from cage-free facilities.

Calif did that awhile back and the price of eggs did go up.

Once I get a house and out of this rental, I want to get a nice, big freezer and locate a local farm where I can buy at least a quarter cow and just stock up on really good beef.
I also need to find a bison farm so I can stock up on some bison meat.

I already have a go-to turkey farm for fresh turkeys.
Huge difference in flavor from the store bought to the fresh, off the farm turkeys.

That, and they keep burning down egg ranches, another one just burned with tens of thousands of chickens.
I wondered how it smelled with all that BBQ chicken.

I had bison once, it was fantastic.

We used to order from Buffalo Gal. Now we buy local. For the past few months all of our meat has come from local farms and I'm never going back if I can help it. Even our Turkey for Thanksgiving was raised on a farm nearby. And to eat real bacon again, it's a dream!

A local farm down the road was doing ground wagyu beef @ $3.00/lb. (pick-up only deal) so we picked up 90lbs of it for one of our freezers. In the past we'd buy half a cow at a time (and half a pig, but that lasts much longer) with a variety of cuts, but we end up using ground beef most of the time, so whenever there's a good deal on ground beef from a local farm we'll haul butt over there.

Smoked wagyu burgers are a great thing.

Swapped valve cover gaskets and bolt grommets this morning. Passenger side had one leaking pretty good, so just did it all. The OEM ones were still in there, and very brittle when i went to remove them. Hopefully this takes care of my leaks.

If not...its probably oil pan gasket..ugh

I got sidetracked by beef, but I was going to reply to the "What did you do to your....." thread with: Not a dang thing. I've got a transmission mount, and some rear O2 sensors I could be installing, but it's proper cold outside, and the underside of my car is nasty.

This pic made me wonder, how many of us are driving around with the TPMS light on?
Because I am picky about that sort of stuff, that was one of the first issues I corrected when I picked up my Yukon about a year and a half ago.

I still need to do my valve cover gaskets.
Just been putting it off but they are starting to leak more now.
Sucks not having a proper garage to take care of these things.
Hopefully soon my house will sell soon and I can buy something up here.

I don't like any lights on cel/tpms, etc I drive too crazy to ignore stuff. I keep the transmission temp visible in the display and watch all my gauges and i check under the hood regularly to look for anything visibly wrong, I check for leaks and watch for anything broken dangling, etc
I also listen for anything out of the ordinary, just habit
then I see people come on here typically new members or people that rarely post and read, my trucks been making this weird noise for the last 3-4 months..what could it be?.derp......

I don't drive too crazy these days but I'm the same as you. I have seen or heard a ton of people driving around with brakes, hubs, belts, pulleys all WAY passed their due date and they just ignoring it on hopes and prayers just waiting to be left stranded. I could NOT live like that LOL

OR those that you see stranded because a tie rod or ball joint failed. How long do you think they were listening to that clunking before they could not longer proceed forward?? :happy175:

I'm pretty proud of the fact mine had. TC light, Check engine light, TPMS sensor light.
I have managed to get them all off except TPMS, but i have 4 new ones being installed that are already programmed to my truck being installed Monday.
Then there should be no warning lights on at all after that. I hate having any warning light on no matter how minor.

The TPMS light is because my winter wheels/tires don't have the sensors installed. GM is lame, and doens't have a way to turn it off... brilliance.

The Airbag light is, I assume, from the two-wire harness that broke when I was pulling out my driver's seat to replace the foam. I have a fix coming, but in no hurry to freeze to death mucking around under the driver's seat.

The other light is for the foglights, you know?

It's the law, blame Washington, not GM.

So turns out its the black heater hose tee leaking now. Son of a @#$%^&
My father-in-laws went out too on his Acadia. One special hose was $45, the others over $200!

I spent about $120 or so for both of mine last fall.
