Looks like Im going to have to buy longer heater hoses from water pump to heater core. the hoses are too short to reach the heater core.. I was unable to find a connector that has the white clip inside will this one here work?

Hey guys are both heater core outlet tubes they same size..I notice one connector is white and the other is black..if they are different that explains why the quick connect wouldnt work on the tube on the left

I don't think they're different sizes. The angles for the rear pipes are just different. We've seen people install them in the wrong locations (left to right) but they worked.

the dorman 800-409 says it replaces oem numbers shown below, but the silverado lines might be a different size

doesn't seem to be a lot of seperate connectors for the pickups, looks like most of them have it built on the hose already

I picked up the dorman 800-409 from Ol'reily. Tried to see if it would connect on the left tube but I couldnt get it to click but I didnt try the tube on the right side.. I looked at autozone and both the silverado and tahoe use the same heater core.. So the 800-409 should work unless it only fits one of the heater core tubes and the other uses a different size

Well I got the left hose installed without using quick connect..Will have to buy longer hose for the right tube to work?? then ill be able to know if block or freeze plug is having issues

I noticed that on my dorman replacements, one was larger hose than the other, but the T's *seemed* to be the same size.
One T has more of an angle and one is closer to 90 degrees, for the heater lines.

I thought about running rubber hoses all the way to back. Im going to need something like this.

Bypass the rear heater core pipes! The two lines do go to the rear heater core. Mine was leaking like about 1.5 gal in a half hour of driving right where the exhaust pipe exits. I never use it, so I decided to bypass it altogether. I spent some time and found the same heater core for the front cabin is used across a bunch of vehicles including the pick ups. ( no rear heater, right?) Same part number on GM website. So the quick connect entrance/exit tube is the same. Irt took some driving around to finally get the correct part. So I just cut off the hose, added a double barbed connector, added six inches 5/8" heater hose and replaced the "quick connect" witha Dorman part number 800-409. slips right in and almost loks like factory work. I don't know why people don't put the part numbers down. Would have saved me time on research. One note is they do NOT look anything alike. The original "T" one had 2 white plastic clips that have to be depredssed to slide the connector past the rib on the each of the 3 pipes. The new ones require the split round "tool" to remove, have no visable clips on the outside and is black. Now I could have just cut the hoses, added 6 inches of hose and secured with hose clamps, but it is extreemly tight in that area and being able to just push it straight on was quicker and easier. Just cost a couple of bucks for the convenience.

They do make replacement lines somewhere or NOS is somewhere. For now, yes, cut and install hose and clamps. Make sure to use multiple clamps on each end. If you can, get band clamps for the hoses.

I know I am late to the party here, but I recommned the spring clamps. I had to make this repair to mine a few years ago. There are some pics in this post.

I've noticed mileage really starts to tank when going over 80 mph, so I'm not surprised yours is that low truth! I noticed that a long time ago but I can't resist i'm a serial speeder have been my whole life

Spring clamps over worm gear clamps, any day of the weak. I would use band clamps if they can be gotten big enough.
