I dig the red as well but it was immediately ruled out as my Tahoe is red. Hugger Orange was in the running of colors as well as a few other choices. That gunmetal gray/metallic gray on page 1 is my leading choice at this point. I did see an awesome green color on this Lexus today though (google'd it and it's peridot green, I couldn't find any great images though).

Damn, I love the early k5's. I've wanted one since I was a little kid after seeing a mean, pristine, lifted one in black, drive by my house. I think they look awesome in silver as well. I think a solid color matches the persona of that body style. But that's just me. I've been keeping my eyes open for one for a while now with no luck. The ones I see are all rotted away, or in excellent shape but way out of my price range. Anyways, awesome truck man! And even if I'm a little late here, good luck with your project!

Keep up the search man. It took me awhile to find this one as I was running into the same thing. I wanted one that wasn't a complete rust bucket but that still needed the cosmetics so I could make it look like I wanted it to. I wanted it to also have the mechanical mostly done as well. When I found this one I hounded the guy until he sold it to me. (he kept deciding to keep it lol)

I was sold on that GunMetal gray posted in this thread for a long time but I've since switched my leading choice to Velocity Yellow (Corvette Yellow). I saw this picture of it on a K5 and the more I looked at it the more I liked it. I haven't made much progress on the K5 since the funds have been short lately but my goal is to have it painted sometime next year.

Its looking good! My dad and I built a 1970 Suburban 3 Door Classic for my High School Project. Unfortunitally It had way too much power for me to handle and we sold it before I could ever drive it. My Dad is a guru at building Old School Motors and Dropped a 383 Stroker in it using a 400 small block, 350 Crank and bored .30 Over. It also had Dart Heads, Solid Roller Cam, 1.6:1 Roller Rockers, Balanced Crank and much more.

I didn't want to hi-jack your thread just wanted to say awesome job so far and I am subscribed to see the finishing out come. I would personally go Baby Blue with White Top

Thanks Mike. That 'burb is sweet! I have made a little progress with the K5 since last posting but nothing worth mentioning. Fixed a few mechanical things, cleaned up the interior a little, etc. My goal is to have it painted by sometime next year. Here's a pic of the yellow one I mentioned in post 26. For some reason it didn't show last time. I don't imagine it will be exactly that color yellow but probably something similar. Then I want to swap the TH350 for a TH700R4 to give me the overdrive especially since I take it on the highway from time to time.
