My 2025 Tahoe 4K miles 5.3 transmission adventure.
Made in 2024.
Traveling at 85-90mph on the tollway the transmission shifted into 2nd gear without any warning symptoms. The wheels and trans spooled up the engine and pinned the tach. You shoulda heard the 5.3 scream.
Unlike the warning lights of the past, the driver 'Digital Instrument Cluster' screen lit up with 'warning pop-ups' on top of each other and impossible to read, just like a computer pop-up virus. GM really ought to change that.
Tahoe went into limp mode and I made it a half mile home, 30mph@3000rpm. Lost reverse completely but made it to a local dealer the next day. In a couple days a valve body rebuild and I was on my way. Shifts and sounds better than new, defective from the start.
